it took about 15mins for me to drive round.
it works very well, climbed 6 days out of 8 in magic wood, and my skin was probably betterr when i returned than when i went out! bit glassy now like, but consistent sanding and moisturisation seem to be sorting it out.

used it the same length of time as beefus. came off fingerboard yesterday at high speed, thought i'd broke my knee and seperated 2 fingernails from their bed. to quote a better man than i  "that shit's not going near my fingers ever again"
good on granite tho, anything else n it's lethal

Talk us through it Lee..

That sounds the most high octane event in the history of the modern world - On par to your average night out in Liverpool.

Ok, bear with me please, I'm trying to work out what's going on with this stuff before I try it.

As far as I can work out the active ingredient is methenamine which is primarily an antibacterial but seems also to be used to treat excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Sounds good for climbing then if it reduces sweating. However you guys seem to be describing a third effect of skin thickening. (i'm not so keen on this as I've never really had a problem so I'm happy with my finger skin as it is).

Have people noticed a reduction in sweating?
Is it possible the fingerboard thing you describe is due to this (perhaps the extra friction made you slip suddenly rather than gradually?). Were you on slopier edges than usual?

Thanks.

Dense came round for a drink the other morning, I could see that his finger tips were a funny colour from the otherside of the room, didn't look good.

That side-effect is described in the stuff I found on treating hyperhidrosis.

OK...

look..

use it sparingly.. as i suggest in the info sheet (not just with the cream, but freely available on the site)

and this stuff really can help...

there are no doubts there.

slap it on like a mad man and you get splits..unless you sand and moisturise..

yes... it does reduce sweating.

end of the day it's common sense - you wouldnt neck brufen 6 times a day just to do a route... without wondering about the results..

it's an aid to good skin..

use it wisely and it'll help you.

honest!

luckily this shits starting to come off my skin now. 2 wks and razor pockets later. never boulder in south shields, makes angel bay look good

ian, fingerboard thing was due to a number of factors, hot, not much chalk, weak, glistening leather skin etc. i thought the stuff was good while using it but i can't seem to hold wood with it. feel free to amuse yourselves with that last sentence

Ok I'm going to try it on one hand only for now & try & compare. That's good science, a sample group of one!!
I'll report back.

I used it sparingly (as per the supplied instructions) in the week before and during the week I have just spent in Font.

My skin was fine for the whole week, never even getting sore to the point that I thought about it stopping me from climbing. I've got a few big chunks of flesh missing but that's down to trying hard/slapping too much, the skin is still perfect.

The same cannot be said for the rest of my body which felt as if I had been on the receiving end of a serious kicking by the end of the week. In fact on the last day at Cuvier I felt physically sick with exhaustion before during and after climbing. I mention this only to point out that I did a fair bit of climbing (although yes, I am really unfit too) and the skin came through unscathed.

I also used/use Dream Cream from Lush which is way better than E45 or anything else I have tried as a moisturiser. Perhaps this helped to reduce the "glassiness" factor.

Anti-hydral twice a week and Dream Cream every night. Job's a good un. 8)

Oh and my usually ridiculously sweaty hands were merely sweaty so I reckon it helps with that too.

Thanks Jas that's encouraging. I guess you had decent weather (at least dry) if you got that much done?

Is he so dense that he actually absorbs light, which is why he has such a gloomy outlook?

Yes ta. One day of really heavy rain but good for the rest of the week and it being Font everything was dry by morning. Fantastic trip. :)

Bit of a hijack but I've seen this Dream Cream recommended for Eczema.
Don't suppose anyone knows anything about that?

Yes. It works really well. I used to get patches of dry skin on my body (not actually eczema but getting that way) and also skin irritations on my hands. Dream Cream sorted it all out in a matter of days.

I've recommended it to friends who have eczema and they've all found it to work. Apparently some doctors prescribe it rather than E45.

This is why I started trying it on my tips. It's really very good.

After trying this stuff on left hand only for several weeks (if anyone is interested) results are very cautiously positive.

Compared to the control (right) hand there seems to be a very slight reduction in sweatiness ( so slight it could well be placebo effect) but no negative results or side effects. Both hands are the same colour & everything.

Should I use a film of cream thin enough to still be able to see my fingerprints through it or should I use more?? :-\

I dont want to ruin me skin with a trip coming up but I also want to make it a bit "stronger" so I can climb more

i dare to say that skin is good for climbing when it's elastic also.
with hard, dry skin you risk that one single move on a sharp hold rips and entire pad.
