Give him a break, he can't remember what he said this morning, let alone 11 years ago.

I've got barely anything for this thread. I used to get the school bus with Bob Carolgees' son. Never watched Spit the Dog when I was a kid so this meant nothing to me at the time.

Can't believe I've only just discovered this thread: brilliant.
My uncle drew Evil Eddie for Iron Maiden (cover design, gig set design, the lot): iron maiden sent me a bottle of wine (eddie's evil brew) for christmas once.
I had a picture shown at the Natural History Museum once. The small print is .... because I won third place in a Blue Peter dinosaur drawing competition.
and, at number 3, (which is a near miss, but i'm counting it) ... came within a whisker of a car crash with Paris Hilton outside Vegas. She swore a lot for a nice looking girl.

In a similar vein, I once got run over by Willow from Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Less surprisingly I once also got in a fight with Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream. The notable thing about that incident was it ended with a dozen Japanese people chanting "Bobby Gillespie wa Cunto Desu!!" in my favour.

I got hammered with Placebo and Bush after a gig in the Krazyhouse in Liverpool. Brian Molko was very chilled but Gavin Rossendale, unsurprisingly, loved himself.

On a very different note, I showed a rather haggard looking Alan Hansen where the whisky was in the booze isle in Safeway, Southport. It was around 8.30. In the morning...

I was surrounded by the Scissor Sisters on a Ryanair flight from Gatwick to Dublin, my smugness for getting the window seat was palpable.

I've sung on stage at Brixton Academy with Lamb, Faithless and Dave Stewart simultaneously.

He cooked (along with the chef) lunch for a bunch of us.  Us being Unbound funders of his new book A Plagarist in the Kitchen.

I'm normally a bit wary of meeting my "heroes" in the flesh but he was exactly as you'd hope him to be.  Charming, funny, generous and very smart.

I sat opposite Jonathon and next to John M who runs Unbound and also writes QI.. spent ages talking about Alan Garner, Jung and Meister Eckhart - it was ace..

I don't think there's ever been a restaurant that I get more excited about visiting than St John. In the words of Anthony Bourdain, "Fergus is my favorite – he’s a hero to me, one righteous, solitary soul-surfing, daredevil motherfucker. A meal at St. John is not just one of the great eating experiences on the planet – it’s a call to the barricades.”

Back to the thread - I once had a conversation with Will Self about the outside bit of the Westway climbing wall. He was writing a short story about someone becoming impaled on one of the pointy concrete pillar things. I don't think it was his best work...

We're hosting Channel 4's "4 in a bed" TV series at the Bunker tomorrow. I'd never watched it, but apparently the two teams always have to take part in a competitive "challenge" and we're it for this episode.
So, how do you set a traverse for two couples, where one couple are in their 30's and "ex-military" and the other couple are in their 60's?

Me, doing my "2000AD Robo Hunter impression":

I've been told I have to look smarter tomorrow on camera...

I and my mate Donald were interviewed by Laura Koensberg when The PM came to eat(pre-arranged) chips in our village. We led the 6pm and 10 o'clock news nationwide.

Met legendary tour manager Sam Cutler (the Stones - including Altamont and the Hyde Park free concert - The Grateful Dead, and more) at a show in Philly last night. Total geezer, rock and roll legend, and, seemingly, really friendly bloke. We bought his book off him and he wrote a lovely dedication. They offered to keep it behind the desk until the end of show. We then went on to have a bit of a rock and roll evening ourselves and totally forgot to pick it up at the end of the evening. Bugger.

From the RIP thread, David Axlerod being a rock climber.

The inverse of non climbing claims to fame: notable people of the world who are also climbers.

Anyone know of any interesting ones?

Aside from the 'actor' Jason Momoa, and well regarded sci-fi novelist and Guardian contributor M John Harrison...

There must be loads...?

I posted Dave Lee Roth in answer to cowboyhat's other post in the RIP thread (oops)

Other than him: Mike Kosterlitz now, obvsly.

And I've seen Daniel Bruhl at the wall, although I have no idea if he climbs regularly,
