Any more reports from today? I hope to get out for the last hour of daylight dinginess.

Its just started pissing it down here in Manc - given the usual west > east movement of rain in the UK I suspect the outlook is log. I've begun eyeing up my beastmaker in anticipation....

I was out at the Buckstone block this morning which was getting a bit of a breeze and the rock was actually dry. However it was so misty that the moisture was condensing out onto the holds, so not very good conditions. Looked like anything not in the wind would have been damp

Word from plantation just now is very similar, it's surprisingly dry but conditions are poor. It's climbable provided you're bimbling.

Pretty much exactly like that at Burbage North.

Grim would sum the weather up nicely in Sheffield - rained on and off all morning.

Any predictions on if it will be ok tomorrow. Based on last few days? Curbar would be top choice...

Yesterday afternoon was nice but other than that its been grim. You might get lucky, though I'd expect a few wet streaks.

Any thoughts on the best bet for boudering on saturday or sunday? Not sure which day to drive up, and the forecasts are all over the place.... Is Stanage on Sunday a decent bet? Or maybe Gardom's?

Cheers

Stanage is a lot faster drying than Gardoms. If unsure as to what will be dry, and given lots of choice as to problems to do, The Plantation is a decent option. Looks like there could be an element of luck as to when and where showers hit.

Was up at Secret garden today - and it was largely dry - things left of Zaffs whatsit were wet - with alot of seepage down the face and under - but everything else was ok, but  a wee bit damp in places.....

Managed just over an hour at Burbage Boulders this afternoon before getting rained off - was a bit hit or miss but largely OK. Tomorrow will be just like today -  look out of the window and make a decision from there.

if youre looking at climbing on the edge it was damp today and it didnt look like it got much if any afternoon sun, the boulders were pretty much all ok, maybe a tad sandy and damp on some sides but ok.

Its raining now, and things look marginal to poor for tomorrow. If you end up at the boulders (or anywhere else) be careful with delicate or sandy holds in the damp.

fwiw the few bits of south-facing stuff at Stanage (popular) were dry and fairly sticky today. Wouldn't be surprised if plantation boulders were minging though, the mist made it all a bit of a hit+miss day. North facing was gopping and most of the (west-facing) edge was somewhere in between. Not entirely sure why since the sun didn't really make an appearance.

Any reports from today? Thinking of heading out tomorrow and wondering if any venues not ruined by the snow.

snooping on the other channel seems like stuff being done in the burbage valley, also had reports from a mate over there that curbar was dry. Fingers crossed for some decent weather tomorrow.

Was told getting to plantation was ok by someone already there. Turned out he'd spun off the road twice. The rest of us had 'issues' getting there but it was all a one-way path downhill, just couldn't back out (or up). Getting back from plantation/popular w/o snow chains (I asked for some for Christmas weeks ago. Fat lot of good they're doing at my parents') and/or winter tyres at very least is impossible. There are about 8 cars abandoned at Hookes at the moment and it's now a lot more frozen + compact than it was in the morning (bitterly cold, apparently was minus 4 before nightfall). From hathersage looked pretty sketch, most of that's in the sun and clears quite quickly too but at the moment it'll be a rollercoaster. To get to burbage WAS fine but might be a bit interesting now it's all frozen.

To make everything worse, it was fairly mild during the day and the grit didn't feel anywhere near as sticky as I felt we deserved.

edit: thanks so much to the guys in the red mondeo with the snow-chains who got us up to Hookes. All I can offer is eternal gratitude and wad points (and definitely beer if we cross paths again) -Steve
