I'm not really into the whole objectifying women thing, but if it's for charity then I won't mind getting one for Christmas.

I might have to black out any text that refers to charity just in case people think that I want them to know that I support charitable causes

I'm confused by this whole female empowerment vs. exploitation thing.

Just look at the Miley Cyrus vs. Sinnead O'Connor vs. Amanda Palmer madness.

Regardless. Phwoar.

March and November are my faves - as a trustee I got to see it before it went to the printers  ;D

Notice that all the posts on here and most on facebook are men. Every female climber I have discussed this with is, to put it mildly, not overly enthusiastic about the idea.

Yes indeed BUT it was apparently the brainchild of Shauna, who is well up on her feminism...

I discussed it with Shauna and Mina and they think it is great, it was Shauna's idea

I'm not suggesting any of the women have been exploited or forced into doing it and I fully support every individuals right to choose how they portray themselves and the image of themselves they put out to the world.

It does however deeply sadden (and slightly anger) me that these images focus purely on the sexuality of the women involved, they are sexy ladies yes, but that is not all they are and certainly not what they are first and foremost.

If it were about female climbing and not about provoking the 'phwoar' reactions, I'd buy it but as it is, I think they've alienated a chunk of the market place.

I think this summarises my thoughts pretty well.

One thing I enjoy about climbing is how both men and women are given pretty equal coverage, it seems to me that things like this might push towards more division within climbing. Who knows though, it could equally just be a bit of fun and have no long term impact.

Are they pictured with their threpn'y bits out in a school playground dressed as nazis? No? Then this really isn't very controversial is it.

Move along people, nothing to see here.

Just because it isn't controversial it doesn't mean it's a good idea.

To dig up old bones, I assume UKC won't be mentioning this calendar, what with their firm DFBWGC stance...

Stallioni started sweating and breathing heavily when talking about it at the Depot last night. It was quite scary ;)

Just because it isn't controversial it doesn't mean it's a good idea.

All i'm saying is "women appearing in a charity calendar of their own free will" is hardly breaking news. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

When strutting around in vests...

Who would actually be disappointed by a "phwoar" reaction from a female climber?

Does that make you objectified?

If so,

Bring it on, Baby!
