FIFA World Cup 2010
May 14, 2010, 10:29:46 pm
Alright, know that starting this thread is a little in advance, but we did our works sweepstake today so I'm getting SYKED for it...

So, what do you all reckon - who's gonna win it? Outsiders who'll do well? Other speculation?

I think this year's is going to be great, looks like it's wide open this year given that a lot of the big sides are not full strength.

I'm going to go on the record now and say TTT's tip(s) are...

Of the big sides, I reckon France - purely on the basis that they qualified in such controversial circumstances that they'll go far...

In terms of an outside bet, my money's on Australia - they did well last time round, if I remember rightly cheated out out of a quarter final place by a shocking penalty shout.

Anyone else?

On a similar note, is anyone missing the Premier League Fantasy Football League interested in a UKB World Cup league?

http://worldfantasyfootball.skysports.com/Index.aspx

I reckon both Brazil and Argentina will be gone by the group stages....

I hope England get knocked out at the earliest possible stage, that way the petty jinoistic nationalism and alcohol related violence will be minimised and the rest of us who couldn't give a sht can enjoy the summer.

Good work Crouchie! Have entered a team but it being my first experience of FF in any form, I'm not expecting to do too well!

I sucked in the PL one, due mainly to being unable to maintain interest for such a long period. Might do better in this....

Can't work out what you're trying to link there Chris.

After my spectacular failure in the final weeks of the FF league (damn you principles!) I suppose I may as well have a bash at this too.

Fat Frank will no doubt be shit all world cup seeing as I have an amazing ability to hex players through inclusion in my FF teams

Anyone else a bit suprised by some of the world cup player exclusions so far?

i.e. Cambiasso for Argentina, Benzima for France, Zamora for England

Aren't a lot of the squads still yet to be trimmed down though?

Zamora is only just a premiership player in my opinion.

Am looking forward to seeing Ivory Coast, they're tipped for bigger things this time round. The group of death generally should have great matches.

The brutality of Holland vs Portugal at the last world cup will take some beating. That match had me on the floor at times.

Some city types think we're going to win...

I was slightly taking the piss a bit with Bobby's exclusion as he wouldn't really make the difference a fired up Benzema would for France!

Look forward to seeing the trimmed down team we take, hope they keep Adam Johnson in.

Maradona will singlehandedly prevent Argentina from winning the World Cup despite them having Lionel Messi, the one player capable of singlehandedly winning the World Cup.

Fuck me I'm excited.

I'm indifferent, as I know South Africa will get nowhere. Apparently the SA team will get a million rand payout for every goal scored. I don't think any banks wil be broken.

That new Nike video's good and very clever in places but they're already trying to rewrite the past never mind the future as toothy's not been picked by Brazil.

Bet they're gutted Messi's sponsored by the Das.

Can't beat the airport one.
