Okay, so I'm trying to lard down a bit and I've been eating less than normal.  Nothing scientific, just consciously smaller portions, no cheese (a personal weakness) and not going longer than 3 hours without a snack.

Yesterday I had a (for me) heavy training session lasting about 3 hours and with a focus on a high volume of around the same level. (Threshold bouldering two V grades above my onsight bouldering grade, then CIR with 15 reps.)
Today, I'm noticing a pronounced 'thermobolic' effect after eating.

Like before lunch, I felt cold, and by the time I'd downed my mashed potato, egg and beans, I felt like I'd switched on a 3 bar internal heater.

Does this possibly indicate that I wasn't eating enough carbs in the time following my training session?

I'm not normally worried about this but as I say, trying to get da summer plumage for hard projecting and don't want to sabotage any possible lard loss. :boohoo:

Cheers folks

I used to get that on my sunday training sessions when i didn't eat well at breakfast.

I'd be more concerned about mixing beans and egg. That creates a weird taste, and if you have a fried breakfast you need to make sure they are kept seperate. Ask Jay Kay and Alan Partridge, they know the score.

Maybe, but a reassuringly familiar one, redolent of childhood....

There's nothing wrong w/ cheese.  Know your enemy.

Next to no carbs in cheese.  Usually 15%+ protein or so.  Natural fat is good and easily burnt.

Yeah but Houds, we're talking about eating half a packet as a midnight snack.

Half a packet?!  What kind of man are you?  Never stop at half a packet  :spank:

I get the cold thing if I haven't eaten enough, although I get the cold thing if someone looks at me the wrong way being a lizard lady.

I've noticed an increase in body temperature, at times accompanied with a sweat after eating..........................hot chillies/chilli sauce  :P

What is the wrong way to look at a lady?  I learnt from an early age that non-seedy appreciation is okay, but drooling, staring and making strange beckoning signs while winking is not so good and may even cause premature death.

If you're looking for a serious answer you might be better asking an actual lady, I can be quite partial to strange beckoning signs.  ;)

Okay, so what are the best signs to use?

The single index finger, curled and uncurled towards the open palm?

This effect is sometimes repeated a number of hours later  :P
