Looks like his dog is tied in! Did Andi's dog climb it too? This would also be a signifcant repeat but probably for a separate thread......or would this be hard enough to be a significant repeat for a dog?

I think its great that Andi's finally succeed on such an iconic route that despite the grade has only had a handful or two of ascents maximum, he's also been trying it for some time.

Significance needs to be appraised by a panel of Sheffield Mafia / Armchair Critics / Miserable Gits and evaluated on several criteria including grade , number of ascents, duration since last ascent, style of ascent, species, height, weight, gender, race, social standing, employment, age, ape index, climbing CV and inner leg measurements of ascentionist as well as route conditions and if there were any dogs around that day. Then, and only then, can it be posted on this thread.

I think Reg would be ok once he got into the crack but might struggle with the initial reach in from the flake. Also, he struggles making fists.

oops, I've caused a bit of a fuss haven't I? I think I was probably a bit tired or something when I posted my (in retrospect) blunt/rude/dismissive response to the news of Bob H doing True North. I'm sure everyone now thinks i am a bit of a nasty bastard but having devoted a fair bit of time to sport climbing in the 90's I am fully aware of what a great personal achievement climbing 8c is (because i was so far away from it)

I hope that I can present my case without ruffling too many more feathers.

I started the thread with Dan's ascent of Suprbloc because this was the 2nd ascent (1st ground up) of a very high, hard boulder problem that hadn't had a repeat for a good while after it's FA. It seems to me there are a few factors that make it significant.

Significance obviously has a lot of meanings to a lot of people, so my idea  for a thread where historically significant ascents could be recorded has been interpreted in lots of different ways, ranging from personal signif to ascents with historical sig.

I personally love to hear about what people are climbing. this kind of news is part of what makes ukb a good place to visit and  pedantic missives expounding my personal views about what constitutes significance isn't really the kind of stuff i like to see so apologies to everyone concerned.

Andi ascent of RR may not be top news but its significant enough to warrant a mention and its more than significant to him.

How many significants do some people need: longest time to ascend, first buccaneering ascent, first belayed by a dog (no wimping out on a great dane either!) was it the heaviest ascentionist as well?

6'2" and 13st 8lb. That makes me 'overweight' on those graphs.

I think it's the first time it's been climbed on a Tuesday....in June.
