shootin' the shit / Photo scanning in Sheffield
« Last post by James Malloch on Yesterday at 07:52:40 pm »
Unfortunately my dad passed away last week and we are now sorting everything out for his funeral in 2 weeks time.

We’re currently staying in Sheffield whilst our attic conversion is going on. So don't have access to our Laptop/Scanner which we left up there.

Can anyone recommend anywhere in Sheffield that could scan around 30 photos (varying sizes and ages) for us and upload onto a USB for use at the funeral? Ideally they could make them all a standard size too.

If they could also download photos from an XD card (not SD) that would be even better.

We are staying in Crookes, but can go wherever is needed in the city.

Also, thanks for the advice and messages in my thread about his health, and his ultimate cancer diagnosis. It’s been a weird few weeks and whilst it’s hugely sad and I’m totally gutted, my brain is just thinking of all the nice times we had together which has made it weirdly nice at the same time…

Good article in Climbing, not yet paywalled: https://www.climbing.com/news/didier-berthod-climbs-cobra-crack-5-14-squamish/

Not mentioned is that Didier's daughter Cedar is also a crusher, winning the lead event in the Canadian Championships last winter and now in the national team.

Thanks for this, quite the redemption story. Paywalled now but available here of course: https://archive.ph/b4Dzp

(Whilst she's also Didier's daughter, I imagine Cedar had a lot more influence from Thomasina Pidgeon until recently).

Yes. Though that may be a mixed blessing. On the one hand she grew up from birth as a climbing dirtbag, travelling the world to bouldering venues; on the other hand, living in a minivan with your mum cant be easy, and I also recall Thomasina had a major falling out with the Canadian comp establishment at some point, but maybe that isn't quite accurate. A strong/ unusual character, anyway. I very much hope Cedar writes a Katie Brown style autobiography at some point in the future.

I hope Usyk convincingly bashes the shit out of Fury and stops him within 10 rounds. Want to get a good amount of boxing to watch. .

Thanks, I guess I could have googled. Disappointing mundane, was hoping they were incorporating an all weather / DWS kilter board into the structure

I had heard that, but have insufficient evidence based on clinical trials. I know someone who make one on her hand burst / disappear when she hit a volleyball.

Nice,   The 'training wall' is a nice feature  ;D

Not sure what that is? An existing climbing section, or is it some civils term I don't know?

A term for a wall that directs water away from a structure.

Given i use that term most days at work, i knew what it is but not the official meaning.

Just presented my son with a bottle of Redbreast 21 for his 21st birthday. Hoping he'll share, so far I've only ever tried their 12yo

I'm still going for ganglion cyst.

If so, I recommend the traditional treatment of hitting it with a bible. (not really, but would like to see what would happen out of morbid curiosity)
Doesn’t it have be a King James Bible not just any old one.

Out of interest, how much as been raised so far.  The links to the fundraiser are all dead and cant find any reference to it here https://peakdistrict.enthuse.com/profile

(has someone run off with the money to plug a gap in the BMC coffers)
