Paul I think Johnny was...........oh never mind

Do I train doing pull ups, no.  Can I do a one arm pull up, yes.  Does that impress the ladies, hell yes!

Steve would not doing all those pull-ups bulk you up too much, or does that not matter?

This thread is straight outa UKC

Add another 3 to the total - dunno if these are doing my elbow any good but I feel invigorated after becoming part of the collective...

Two Borg references in two days.  :)

Wasn't sure about that reference as the pictures are blocked at work. Figured one more wouldn't hurt (new film out soon too).

Pay up lads.Perhaps some one could help with a Munkii formula as in does 1 one arm pullup equal 10 ones. Stevie. ps Paul B why dont you just stop whinning donate a thousand and see if your core feels like its lifted a cup of tea and I take nothing away from Tyler hes great.IOU Munkii and promise to pay you tomorrow Stevie.

Put me down for 100 since the thread started. I'll generally do about 25 warming up for a fingerboard session.

On a serious note re pullups, especially fingertip pullups, and training. I used to do loads as a kid and it never did me any harm as such - I'm guessing elbows and everything else can get used to it? Or maybe I was lucky. But as to whether it did me a lot of good, I used to think that the routine of fingertip pullups with a minute rest between each set would be a useful form of Power Endurance training or something close to that, but Serpico I think it was pointed out that given that I was doing a lot of pullups each go my forearms were locked for too long to simulate real climbing - ie grip, release, grip, release, etc - and that it was better to train in a way that best imitated climbing, such as, er, well, climbing circuits with timed rest intervals. I suppose my training may have been a close approximation to hanging around for ages trying to fiddle gear in or work out how to do a move.

ok so to add something in keeping with the rest of the thread I did:

50 pullup variants tonight, some of which had 2 arms, some of them one and some of them with a small woman on my back.

believe it or not Stevie that post was 100% genuine.

i would like to add 30+ done by the dull university climbing club when i was at the wall the other night.observing them doing said pull ups seems to comfirm what a significant majority/minority are saying that pullups make you a shit climber as they could do them and guess what.

:spank: Come on Munkii get your calculator out, whats the current total?

(The other option is that people posting do as suggested originally and add in addition to posting the number they've done, add it to the running total themselves).

As a public service.....the running total is 2524.

This is assuming Munkii's 1888 was correct. I can't be bothered to go back and find out.

As I'm completely bored at work I worked it out to 2499. Hmmm wonders who's right.

If we include Unclesomebody's avatar. From Slackers posting it until 14:20 today we can add 24,228.5 one armers. Good work there.

Grand total 26727.5.

I'd be inclined to go with your 2499 Plattsy, I'm guessing Jasper started with Munkii's poor guesstimate of 1888 which he seemed rather despondent about.

It could cause trouble when Guinness get wind of the achievment if its not sorted from the start.

I've just realised that Unc passes the bar through his head at the top of that pull up.  How did you do that Unc?  Awesome!!

2524 it is.

if this is right then currently:

3049 (I'm not inclined to go back and check)

add 30 from me (however I'm still shocked that a 1-armer is credited the same as a normal pull-up)

Current total 3079!

(Stevie and Laurence should speed things up, maybe to about 9 years?)
