31cm, I expect to be out-gunned by Magpie. But it doesn't matter, I'm just here to make you boys feel better about yourselves.

Shieet :o I was only joking about the likelihood of being out-gunned. My ego's really on the floor now :'(
Long sleeved shirts only for me from now on.

I'm not happy about it either, I'm worried it might be less mucsle and more bingo wing  :'(

Edit:  Webbo!!  I'm allowed to say it, you're not  >:(

I work with a bird who could "out gun" everyone on here. Her upper arms must be way more than 40cm in circumference however I'd guess that they are 10% muscle 90% lard. There should be a proviso on this contest that the arm can actually tense fully!

I have no accurate measuring facilities here. Will try to get a measusement of my puny bicep later and hope to beat magpie.

I'm at 31  :boohoo:
However I weigh in at 60.5 kilos which I reckon is probs pretty lightweight.

I reckon masculinity = mass (kg) / gun circumference (cm) (to 3 significant figures)

This gives me a masculinity standing of 1.95.

I'm packin' 17cm on the wrist and 27 on the forearm.

This has all gone a bit Purple Aki.

Actually, sack that. Travs' way is much better. Measurement of upper arm being from elbow bone to armpit apex I reckon is the easiest measurement.

Well I propose that we redefine the term BMI to mean Bicep Mass Index, the calculation of said value being :

Circumfrence of bicep ( cm ) / ( Length of upper arm ( cm ) x Weight ( kg ) )

Note the upper arm is measured from point of elbow to bony point on shoulder ( on the same arm obviously )  ;D

so: BMI and masculinity are two different indexes?
BMI= bicep/length x weight
MASC= bicep/weight

Having thought about this a bit more and discussed it with some leading scientists, we have decided to refine the BMI index to incorporate muscle bulk and to bring the value into a more sensible range. As such the new proposed BMI defenition is :

100 x Circumfrence of bicep ( cm )  x  Circumfrence of bicep ( cm ) / ( Length of upper arm ( cm ) x Weight ( kg ) )

I couldn't do a squared sign hence circumfrence multiplied twice ;D

Anybody who gets 100 is the perfect climber

I think you're a few powers of ten out on your calculations, because to get 100 you would need an upper arm length of approx 2000cm assuming mean values for the rest.

But surely 20 metre long upper arms would make you the perfect climber - everything would be piss!

I couldn't find a tape measure but my forearms are about the same as my biceps and this is about the same distance as from the bottom of my knee cap to the top of my ankle.

Can anyone post whether or not they have forearms larger than their biceps? I'm thinking about who might qualify for this... Perhaps Foley or Jim? But they have large biceps too... Perhaps Fred might post up.

You need to check your maths Unc, as an example here are my stats and BMI.

Bicep 38 cm
Arm Length 30cm
Weight 64kg

BMI = 100 x 38 x 38 / ( 30 x 64 ) = 75

The above figures are approximate as I need a piece of string or something to measure my bicep and they're not pumped I bet there well over 40 cm in reality ;)

my apologies! You are of course correct. But for a golden ratio of 100 it stands that you're arm length must be very short.

I would change the perfect value to something else... but I leave that in your capable hands.
