I know this is a  longshot,  but does anyone know of a source where I might be able to get hold of a Laurent Garnier set from S.A.D.M.A.C ( Sheffield and district music appreciation club) from 93 or maybe 94 ?

Wow, that is an obscure request Dolly. I suspect I went - used to go there a lot...well for the short while it was open. SADMAC where the bouncers used to offer you lightsticks for sale at a fiver each and they really really wouldn't take no for an answer. I've never seen any mixes from there so not sure you'll have much luck with that one I'm afraid.

He also played a classic set at Bed in Sheffield a few years back.

Derrick May - 10th August 2008

I downloaded this from mixingbowl but since it's superb I uploaded it for public consumption.

Derrick May is one of the inventors of Detroit Techno and one of the top DJs I've ever seen live. He treads the housier end of techno but even if you like hard beats this mix is still worth a listen.

Counterpart not point!  Having listened, I remember it being better on the night.  (Must've been the two bottles of red wine before entering . . .)

Listened to the Technical Fabric mix again on a run yesterday, it's awesome.

Bit off live PA's at the moment, mind.  But, there is one guy who makes brilliant PA's (doesn't DJ anymore) under the name of Voidloss (more techy experimental / brokenbeat stuff) and Dirty Bass (more dubbstep/electro-ish).

Here's the recent Dirty Bass PA, bet this sounds far-out on a good system as it's mental on inner ear phones.  More dubstep than tech, but I like dubstep - so there!

Could you ID the (rather epic) tune that's playing at 89mins for me if you know it?

Also what is the tune at 22mins in the last Phase mix you posted - big tune, lots of DJs playing it.

He's worth checking out - that choppy mixing style and heavy EQing sounds great on a big rig.

Don't know about the May ID - haven't got that far, I really dislike the Oliver Huntemann (?) track about 6 minutes in.  Always makes me lose interest.

Phase ~ I think all of the tracks are his, if not it's likely to be something on Token records.  I'll re-DL and investigate further.

Although it's been out for a while, I've only just managed to watch ''Feiern- Don't forget to go home''. It's a documentary about the Berlin techno/party scene. Really enjoyed it.

You can find torrents of it all over the net and subtitles here. If you use VLC to watch it, you'll need to have the .avi file in the same directory as the subtitles you will have downloaded. This syncs titles to film. All you'll need to do then is go into preferences on VLC and under 'Video', click on subtitles and change the relevant drop down menu option to 'background'. Enlarge the font to 'large' and you'll mask out the German subtitles enough to read the English ones.
