Never seem them before so rather excited

I expect very little standing to actually take place.

Apparently they're considered rather divisive, but the new Deafheaven is stunning, and a potential pick for my album of the year..

Oh, and I've also been thoroughly enjoying Yellow and Green by Baroness, and Once More Round The Sun by Mastodon - quite similar in style to one another, and more groovy than Mastodon's first few albums.

I've given up on Once More Round the Sun - apart from two tracks that make the blood warm, I found it a bit samey and soulless and I really did want to like it.
The new Coheed album is out this week, fave band, but not too sure about what I've heard so far... putting off buying it if I'm honest.

For those into black metal, the new album by Sivyj Yar is very good, here is the fantastic closing track.
Does anyone here like Nokturnal Mortum? Listened to Voice of Steel today and I was very impressed, its also thankfully bereft of any NS rubbish.

That Sivyj Yar  doesn't sound that black to me, but it does sound very well done in it's own style.

Yeah, I suppose folk-black metal is more appropriate. This song from their older album From the Dead Village's Darkness (my favourite by them) is also fantastic

Nice, that reminds me of Isis (not a good band name in retrospect..). The Oceanic album in particular is great

Nope, but vaguely related on the subject of mainstream industrial-tinged metal, I did get Godflesh's A World Lit Only By Fire the other day, mostly because I like the bass heavy production. HTH.

Yeah, got that a while back.  I prefer Songs of Love and Hate, but it's still pretty decent.

Demanufacture is a better album IMHO, but I'm certainly liking this new stuff.

My favourite new band is Raveneye! Been together just over a year, already supported Slash through Europe and North America, and done dates with Deep Purple! Check them out if you like dirty bluesy grungy metal! Added bonus was I got them to play my wedding!
