Pimp My Pumpkin

OK, since I'm shit at bouldering and Houdickweed is better at PowerBalls than I am, my competitive streak has boiled over.
Pumpkin Carving.  Let's see your efforts.  Here is mine from this year:

Please note this witch is slim and adequately proportioned.  Fit lassie apart from the nose.
I suspect this will be limited to all the Dads on here.

Nice one GCW. Best I've seen. You're bound to get some Dad-points for that.
I'm just happy to be able to do a slightly better carving than an unsupervised 7 year old with a blunt spoon.
Any tips on tools, techniques and last minute training?

I used a metal kebab skewer for a lot of it, nearly went through my hand a couple of times though. Beware. There's whole websites devoted to this, I was looking to try something harder this year, something where you don't just carve straight through but aim to get different shades, however i'm loathed to pay someone for patterns that i'm likely screw up.

Is the use of power tools considered to be cheating in the world of competitive pumpkin carving? Or is it just about how impressed/happy the kids are?

I might try that bat one you've posted, I'm almost certain that the pics on that site are big enough to make some kind of a pattern from after a bit of playing with edge detection.

To get to the standard of some of those people I think climbing would have to be replaced with artificual pumpkin carving sessions. I think not  :wall:

I quite like the fact you have got a negative (inverted bat) and a positive ("traditional" face with open mouth) image.

Due to a complete lack of inspiration and time constraints I've gone pretty old-skool this year:

It's currently very light so I'm struggling to get a lit-up photo, but I will try and remedy this later.

Come on Paul, show us what you've got.
