(To give you an indication of the level of effort required for those 15-16k scores, please have a quick look at some of the Top videos from Akis or Jeremy on our scoreboard).

They need to watch Ben up/downcampus 1-4-7 on loop on the Real Thing to realise that not everyone needs to shit themselves whilst performing a great feat.

Damn, I need a new ball like yesterday!

Anyone experimented with the Eduoard (AKA Burst) Technique?

THe guy who commented on the video is called Skylerwd6 -

Perhaps it's about the ribbing.  Perhaps it's because he can't make 13K on a PBall....

OK, just had a ball-off with scouse. his ball is weird, different counter with not many functions, very old looking and extremely rough and clunky compared to mine. he got his up to 159XX again but couldn't get mine past 11934. due to the totally different feel of the ball i could only get his into the 11XXX area, but a lot quicker and easier than with mine. scouse's was a lot

some other interesting points though - i use a circular/jarring motion similar to what the greek guy uses on the vids, going in ever decreasing circles until at top speed my arm is hardly moving and no real wrist motion, i build it up and go for one bust at top speed. scouse on the other hand holds his in the kind of wrist-bent manner that a spin bowler would, and flicks his wrist constantly, the difference between a high and low score is just how vigourously he's moving it, no change in size of motion. it seems that this flicking style seems to work better than my style with a rough ball maybe. he also works it up to top speed gradually over a while leaving it spinning while he rests, strange.

We also weighed the balls and my new one is about 40g heavier than scouse's old one, which might explain the speed difference, but then again its so rough it doesn't make sense. maybe the increased friction aids the transmition of speed at high revs or something.

but yeah, basically his ball is fucked somehow. apparently steve had also just got 14k on it who'd previously not got a ball over 8k.

P.S. my high score on the league table is 119XX (i can't remember what the last 2 digits were before scouse beat it with 11934). probably 11930.

I'm willing to wager a significant sum that unclesomebody could smash the top score to pieces. Someone hand him a powerball..

All these powerballs are different.  You've got to buy the 250Hz pro (cheapest one with a counter).  The original powerballs are slower than this model.

Why isn't Stevie Haston in the league? (yes yes, we've all got better things to do...)

I don't think he would.
He'd start OK but as he approached 16,000rpm his grip strength would crush the ball resulting in disqualification.

Stevie Haston... why didn't I think to nominate him earlier. The man who could do thousands of pull ups a day... along with thousands of sit up... on consecutive days... Surely he would cause the gyro in the powerball to simply implode causing some sort of new galaxy to form inside it.

As an aside, has anybody in the world built a robot with the sole purpose of destroying a powerball by getting it up to 50k? I can't be the first person to think this?!

ps. Sorry to hear the bad news scouse. You are still a legend in these parts.

pps. my money would be on huffy to come out top on the UKB scoreboard (well, after Stevie)

Steve got an 11000, I got a 14000, but that's beside the point- he beat his best ever on mine with ease. My ball is lighter and basically well different. Cheers for keeping the faith guys!
Dave's ball was super smooth and I found it hard although i felt well pumped. Like Dave says the techniques required seemed very different.
I so wanted to be the next Akis!
P.S. Just had 16450 on mine!

Unc- give it a go and see.  There is a technique element and it's all very pointless, but hey ho.
On your robot point:  I calculated that putting the PowerBall against the back tyre of my motorbike at top speed (on the stand, be dangerous leaning round with a PowerBall in hand) would result in a speed around 11,500 rpm.  I'd donate a fiver to some Japanese company, FukyaPowabors.com

No no - it's about going to Katzs' pinch problem on the L side of the Caseg and walking it 24/7.

By using a strange wrist swirling technique?  Ah, now I get it.

I think I'd place my money on Jimbo for a top UKB Powerball score (assuming it doesn't use too much shoulder action). Has he ever tried yours Scouse?

Dave, are you bringing your powerball to Spain?

just got 9708, the go before sounded a lot faster but the counter timed out and switched itself off, nevermind.
This was only about my 10th go so I haven't beaten Dave - damn it
I recon my technique is pretty poor and needs a lot of perfecting, I also struggle due to having a inflexible thumb (ie I can't pinch very wide) and find it awkward to grip the ball right.
I recon I should be able to improve quite dramatically when I get my technique right

probably not a greate idea since we'll be climbing hard for 7 straight days, we should probably save energy. plus its actually quite easy to remove skin from your hands and give yourself blisters, as I found last night. You know full well you'll get competative and injure yourself. ;)
