Propellerhead Reason is very good but is also expensive, though as usual, free versions can be obtained.

Fruityloops is ok too.

I suspect Falling Down will be able to give the best info out of us lot.

right, ambient seems to be the music i've been seasrching for all my life... i was thinkning then, that it would be:

Simple drum loop - This would be easy to make
Some sort of noise - Maybe distorted?
Bold but simple bass - but not too "bangy"
Effects - wierd noises and the such like
anything else?[/b]

i had a play with ableton live for a couple of evenings and (despite being a fairly modest kind of chap) reckon that with a couple more beer-fuelled evenings practice i could get a multi album deal without any problem at all...

I've got a copy of cuebasis, it's just trying to get it to work properyl. it has the potential to make some sweet drum tracks but not much more.

if you think cubase is that limited then you cant have spent much time exploring what it can do.

I haven't; you are correct! How many instruments do I have to play with?

not many in the basic cubase package...

I DO NOT ADVOCATE STEALING SOFTWARE

However, if you have no morals you could...

get on a good file sharing peer-peer system and type in the following things for full spec audio stealing...ahem...

Native instruments B4, PRO 53, FM7,
Oddity
Waves
PSP
T-Racks
Lounge Lizard
G-Media
BBE
Arturia
and of course "VST plug-ins"

All should work in Cubase..
and then go out and buy some basic computer music mags to get the basic gist of things...that's how i started and i now manage to make a (carefully hidden from the tax-man) second career from it...

but then i am horribly talented..
 :P

hmmm,  i started off with lofty artistic goals but ended up whoring myself

if you need a cover version at extremely short notice and are willing to pay a few hundred quid I'm your man..

have made some good stuff in the past but would  be too embarrased to play it to anyone now..ha ha...whoring only I'm afraid...

makes a change from Doctoring though...

and pays for my climbing gear etc...another couple of dodgy "homages" should  cover my first ever trip to font later in the year! Hurrah!

and i don't see how to add attachments in the e-mail from this site ?

There's loads of mp3 splitting utilities - just search the shareware sites.

What is the law regarding copyright and things for remixes? If I was to remix something, what would I be allowed to do with it?

Right, so if a friend in prison was to use a 30-second sample from Aerodynamic and use it as the basis for the entire remix, he could find himself in the box for longer? Becasue that's all it's going to be... just aerodynamic but for longer and with some pitch-shifting, and maybe some other stuff if I can be arsed...

Also on the "chew" e.p. will be some beepy clicky stuff and some ambient. Estimated release date (at the current rate of progress) 3rd April 2744.
