anyone into the 'burial' stuff? - 'untrue' is classic
I've had a good few listens through this now and i think it's fantastic. I don't care whether it's bona fide Dubstep or not, let's not get hung up on genre nit-picking, it's a fine album; for me it's a soundtrack to British cities at night - mysterious, a bit scary and full of brooding atmosphere.

Today it's been a little minimal, a touch glitchy, and darkly atmospheric.

First up and highly recommended, is I'd never heard of this guy till someone handed me the album 'Parabolica', but I'm glad I have.

Next up, on the strength of both albums receiving 5 star reviews in the Observer, is Burial, the eponymous album and new one 'Unreal'. I think I like these, but a few listens will be required. Worth checking out though, I just can't quite get with the pitched up garagey style vocals....

I'm liking it, and made 'Night Bus' my alarm clock sound. For me, not a soundtrack to *most* British cities at night; i.e. somewhere to stay away from. Give me a bit of beech and an axe these days....

Me too. I was this close to including it in my Top 5 for 2007 but I only got last week and thought that might be a little hasty.  Its way, way better than their album from last year... fantastic stuff.

Did I post this already? I can't remember. Anyway, this is a quality tune. Anyone else like this band? The guy's voice is quality.

I've got this and had a very quick listen. Not so sure about it yet, maybe will improve with time, like a cheese

Maybe you think that, bubba, but they themselves are taking the piss and are a quality band...

I might have to get my hands on this burial album, everyone's talking about it!

I've never really considered myself a Radiohead fan in any way (I only own Ok Computer) but I really like In Rainbows. Maybe i'll have to start digging through the rest of their back-catalogue.

I don't rate the recent stuff that much. First 3 albums are better.

I would say that the albums in between OK Computer and In Rainbows are probably their best work though Hail to the Thief is a bit weak at times - The Bends is also a stunning album and is worth buying for Fake Plastic Trees alone IMO.

I love Radiohead, but I could never get myself into Hail to the Thief and bits of Amnesiac I didn't like.
On a seperate note, my 3 year old knows all the lyrics to OK Computer so that tells you how often I listen to it
In Rainbows has only been listened to twice so far.  Not at all bad.

I love Radiohead, but I could never get myself into Hail to the Thief and bits most of Amnesiac I didn't like.

Almost agree totally there.

There's also the Easy Star All-Stars "Radiodread" if you want something different.

Detatched has to be the best underground night in the UK now; last years program was top notch.   Ergo Leeds = the best city in Britain.

Error404 - love this guy.  Awesome drug (no, I meant) drum programming.

We all love The Beach Boys, I think we can take that as a given. And of course, going deeper, we all worship Brian Wilson as the great addled genius behind them. But how many of us give his brother Dennis the credit he's due?

This festive period I've been digging Dennis.

Quote
That Dennis was the second-best songwriter in the Beach Boys was amazing, as was the band's failure to appreciate him as such. Bursting with creativity, this album is the result of years of songwriting, only a small trickle of which wound up on Beach Boys records. An absolute classic, and so much better than anything the Boys did in the 70s up 'til this point (with the exception of "Sunflower," which is another Dennis showcase).
