....we'll reach for the sky!
No valley to deep. No mountain too high.
No no limits, we'll reach for the sky,
we do what we want and we do it with pride.
Lemme hear ya say yeah! (wow!)
Hard to the core, I feel the floor.
When I'm on stage, yo, ya answer more.
I'm on the edge, I know the ledge,
I work real hard to collect my cash!
Tick tick ticka tick take your time,
when I'm goin' I'm goin' for mine.
Open your ears and you will hear it.
I tell you this 'cause there's no limit!
No, no, no, no, no, no, no ,no ,no, no, no, no there's no limit!
Ow! Hey yay yeah hey hey!
Now, now, hey yeah yeh hey hey! Hoo!
No limits allowed, cause there's much crowd,
microphone check as I choose my route.
I'm playing on the road; I've got no fear,
the south from my mouth is on record here.
There never will be no mountain too high.
Reach the top, touch the sky!
They tried to diss me cause I sell out...
I'm making techno and I am proud!

You can listen to some samples here[/url]

Yes quite smooth.

They are €1.60 say a quid each track.  That's a lot for a whole bunch of binary.  No sales staff / shop to hire etc..  that's pricey isn't it?

An album costs a tenner say, mp3 same.  Wtf?   Crazy, non?

Please, can any of you Techno/DLing types put me onto any recent DJ Hell sets?

Saw him do his thing for the first time couple of weeks back and was well impressed with his blend of new wave tech that I found myself dancing long long after the drugs had worn off.  I can also vouch for the fact that he has lost the mullet.

Not new, but I've bunged a copy of DJ Hell Essential Mix 18th December 2005 up for you, damn good set it is too.

There some more techno from Adam Beyer Essential Mix 10th December 2006 and a bit of D'n'B in the form of an old set from Pendulum @ Drum'n'Bass Arena (September 2003) for those interested.

Right bollox to all this techno nonsense. Time for some real music i.e. drum and bass

After a rather long dry period with little of interest coming out there has been a veritable deluge in the last few weeks, especially on the funky dancefloor / soulful ambient styleee rather than kill your granny techstep gnarlcore.

Personal recommendations:

Photek - Form & Function 2 (Photek) - mentioned before but a top-notch and well varied artist album, everything from abstract techy stuff to mega-anthems

Ant Miles - Visitations (Liftin Spirit) - bounce around your living room style dancefloor stuff with the odd techy bit.

Various - Zenith (Quarantine) - deep minimal techy rollers, one for those who like deep bass exploration.

Kasra / Various - All Sounds Electric (Critical) - good range of mellow and funky dancefloor stuff.

Muffler - The Sighco Show (Sigh Co) - artist album from Finlands finest, big dancefloor anthem stuff but staying just the right side of cheesiness.

Rinseooooot selecta!

Quite probably, I wouldn't know really - most of the stuff i've heard that's labelled as Dubstep has left me totally cold....but then that's mainly listening to Mary Anne Hobbs and i don't know if she plays proper stuff or not.

Good! I prefer hard D&B :)

Is Pendulum even D&B btw?

Technically, in terms of BPM and breaks, yes. In all other terms, it's just the new indie.

Yeah Bubbs, nu-skool Photek is way different to old-skool Photek, a lot less of the minimal abstractness and a lot more hard-hitting stuff mixed in with the odd funky dancefloor thing. It's good though.

Not been much on the harder DnB tip recently, although Teebee & Calyx - Anatomy is good squelchy tech-step funk, and The Horsemen - Revelations is pretty tearing techy stuff. But you'd be better off picking up some classics from yesteryear (I probably mentioned some somewhere in the last 87 pages...).

Hmmmm... I don't agree with you there Andi. Burial are the Dubstep equivalent of Rhythm and Sound - soaked in reverb and hiss... quality stuff like. They aren't far from old 'Form and Function' Photek either IMHO...

Bubbs - the Dubstep All Stars collections are pretty good.  I have 3 (Kode 9) and 4 (Hatcha and Youngsta) and they are good driving/chilling music.
