It will be set so  there are plenty of problems in the font 5 to 6 range (equivalent to our level 1 and 2) with lots of random spot prizes during qualification including cash problems, sponsors kit and vouchers.

The top 6 men and women go through to an onsight final of 4 problems each which will be set on 'The Wave'/Bleasutone walls. Spectators welcome.

The comp has Senior (18 or over on 8/2/14) and Junior age categories (age 10 years to under 18 years on 8/2/14) as well as a Team event.

Team entry – In the qualification round any 3 people can make up a team on the day of the event, just let us know on the day that you want to be part of a team (before you start climbing!).  Teams must contain at least one female climber.  Being in a team means you have a chance of winning more prizes!

What comes under the umbrella of "bouldering essentials" in the CragX discounts?

Are rock shoes included?

From Facebook..

Setting for the Foundry Bouldering Open (F-BO14) is now under way, with the lads hard at it on the Wave.

New holds, new volumes and even a guest setter or two...

There isn't going to be much to boulder on tonight/Friday. So if the new routes we set in January weren't motivation enough, now is the ideal time to pull out a harness and work on your stamina training.

F-BO14 is a bouldering event & the roped climbing (top rope and leading) is open as normal.

Thanks Simon!

You can still register (until Fri evening) online for F-BO14:
www.foundryclimbing.com/fbo14registration/

This may save you some time getting started on the day.

Might come and get some shoes on satdy, are the sizes showing as available online, and the prices, indicative of what you've actually got in shop? Or more specifically, have you got old blackwings in 9 or 9.5? Don't want to make a wasted journey etc.

And is the discount on top of what is already shown ? eg velcros @£89.25. Will there be a further 20% off that ?

Afraid not, 20% off the RRP. The board will likely be open tomorrow (Fri), however, there are a few problems to go up on the RHS (as per the FWBL events).

Dave - give Ed in CragX a call after midday tomorrow and he should be able to double check the stock levels for you. Prices in-store usually match those of our online shop when factoring in the Foundry members' discount.

What about stuff like the old blackwings that are already under 80% of the RRP? Hopefully not going back up for the day....

Of course not, there are a few models of shoes already heavily discounted, these won't be changing for the day.

Technical bouldering shoes only (or so I was informed on Tuesday when asking for a pair of Scarpa Vapor V's to be put by until the weekend)

 :sorry:

I've confirmed this with CragX and the Vapour V's (in fact all rockshoes) are included in the sale.

Dave - Those Blackwings are in stock, size 9.

I'm not doing the comp tomorrow but just been there and done about a dozen of the problems. All of them were very good. Should be a good day tomorrow if you're going

Moon injured?

He said he had some niggles during qualifying that he didn't want to exacerbate.

Results here

It was great to see a fair few locals in the finals, Stu 'I was here at the last FIBO' Littlewad, Ella Russell and Dianne Merrick.

Shauna was impressive throughout the day only making one mistake on the last move of the last problem (and turning in the highest overall score during qualifiers).

Commentary was amusing from Jerry and Percy throughout.

If you missed it Ben Pritch and Rich Heap were filming so at some point there'll be a nice video, hopefully with Stu demonstrating the small man's method on the final problem!

He's only 32

Also waddage to Ethan who I never thought of as an indoor comp boulderer
