what do you think about the new competition format :?:

over 200 people trying 25 problems up to 3 times each  :? , im taking a book to read in the queues :!:

I thought the old format was ok (definately better than blowing fat sweaty cock!). I think there will be a lot of people not getting to attempt all their problems with the new system. Im just hoping theres another big '6c' dyno  :D

the thing with the old system is that ok the strongest always won, but in the middle standard it rewarded those that could estimate their abilty rather than who could boulder the hardest, which was rather wack.

Big '6C' dyno???  I could nearly static it and I'm a midget of Stu Littlefair proportions with a negative ape index.

The old format did indeed blow fat sweaty cock.  How can someone who flashes a load of problems up to 5c beating someone who was doing 6c problems but failed on a couple of them be fair?  (that's rhetorical I don't actually want to start off some discussion)

Anyway, I'm going up, and the uni is paying for flights, accomodation and hire car which is sweet.

Not sure I'm looking forward to the comp though with so few probs and so many people.  Although should be no problem getting the beta for the harder probs.

Who's in the running for doing well? (apart from my fine self of course  )

Thats true, the strongest will win this time too, but in the middle group it will be the people who can run the fastest between problems and queue jump successfully! And if everyone doesnt get a chance to use all their attempts then the clever people who didnt waste time on stuff they couldnt climb will do well (sound a bit like old format???)

Ah OK, so all that fuss about receivership doesn't affect you and me in the immediate future, they're just after a buyer then.

I was really keen to enter, but apparently I'm not allowed cos the guy organising it left it too late, and I'm not a 'regular'.
I haven't joined highpeak because every time I try to hook up with them, they strike me as less than friendly.... I may be a weird old bird, but just because I am a part-time post grad and can't always meet up with them on a Wednesday (I'm at work) it seems a bit unfair to exclude me. :(

See, I can whinge as good as any real student :!:

Yeah, what uni are you at?

I'm not even a member of my uni climbing club, and I have never been on a trip with them in two years, but they've still asked me to compete for them.

What makes you think there'll be some strong students this year Hardtofollow?

Just checked it out.  Apart from the guys I know, I didn't see any names I recognised.

So who are the dark horses out of that lot that are going to flash everything?

nice one
except they splelt my name wrong
dave macleod of glasgow is competing, he is very good.  flashed almost all the problems at last weeks scottish uni bouldering comp

does anyone know what the deal is with having a girl in your team?  last year they said there must be at least 1 girl in each team but this year they didn't say that and there are some teams like aberdeen with all guy teams
