Homemade holds??
May 30, 2010, 10:14:50 pm
hi all, now money is tight as i have treated myself to some new climbing shoes and the new BMC and north wales bouldering guide :) :). but i now want a fingerboard of some description but i have no money so why not make a fingerboard or a set of hand holds from wood or rock as i was reading on a website? its just to go in the garage above the doorway or on the wall but i would like some advice on how to make the holds and what from?? i know i probably wont get the most complex wall but something mainly to do pull ups on (maybe a campus sort of board??)and if i can mount them on the wall just to practice footwork. cheers in advance

Buy a broomhandle from a DIY shop - you can brobably find other things that would be suitable as well if you want some variety. Root in skips.
Chop it up to size.
Screw the holds into a board to mount them.
Attach to wall.
Hang.

Yeah, Why not? Banister rails are good as well for juggy holds and pinches.

just finished making it now. will post some pics up later, its got a large...ish edge, a small edge and a D sort of shape sloper ( if the straight back of the D is mounted on the wall and the curve is the hold ???) but i want some lovely jugs in the center of the oard but had difficulty making them so can you buy just 2 handholds from anywhere in the north wales area??
