It's fair enough though. The TV companies quite rightly believe that most people who have no interest in football are either women or the type of men who would like to watch Britains Next Top Model, Big Brother and "a Kevin Costner romance".

Joining in the FIFA World Cup 2010 thread is certainly a good way to escape the football. Reverse psychology, fight fire with fire etc... ;)

Careful or I'll start infecting this thread with blathering about penguins.

Nice flag, where can I get one to stick on my car?

I'm keen to fight football with fire. Slackers, you fancy going on an arson rampage this month? Hit me on the 2-way.

Seems the forum software edited the filename there, so the above now links you to the offending picture (which is meant in jest btw).

Good World Cup predictor thing here:

http://www.auditexcel.co.za/world_cup_spreadsheet.html

I've filled it in (as unbiasedly as possible!) and have Spain winning with us going out to Brazil in the semis (but stuffing the Germans in the 3rd place playoff).

How do you upload an excel file to the forum or can't you?

How do you upload an excel file to the forum or can't you?

You can't as far as I'm aware.

Two possible options...

1) Write something in the wiki using the tables there (hassle if you don't know Wikimedia code, and not really appropriate)

2) Use Google Docs to write/upload it then link to it here (you need a Google account, but everyone has one of them already, don't they?)

I've got us going out to Netherlands in the semi although the last 16 tie with Serbia is quite tricky, winner of that progresses to semi anyway.  Also have Germany stifling Argentina into submission in their quarter before losing to Spain in the semi.  Netherlands to sneak the final, van Persie takes the goalden boot.

Yes but I'm not fannying about like that just to upload my predictions. Thought it might be more trouble than it was worth. Cheers.

Van Persie is a good shout for golden boot (provided he doesn't get crocked) but the Dutch will surely self destruct before the final like they always do?

I have them losing 1-2 to Dunga's "boring" Brazil in the quarters.

I hope England get knocked out at the earliest possible stage, that way the petty jinoistic nationalism and alcohol related violence will be minimised and the rest of us who couldn't give a sht can enjoy the summer.

I couldn't agree more.

Bah humbug crew in full effect.

In SA they have a much cooler way of showing support for their team than flags on cars:

Thats a great idea, far less wasteful than the flags which increase drag and reduce fuel efficiency.

Someone should import the sleeve things, they could make a fortune.......

And they're off!

It seems a bit strange that after a period were a whole weeks worht of news was devoted to something as small as who to pick as Englands second choice left back we now have period where if you go out for the afternoon you've missed a couple of crucial matches. I'm off to Kilnsey in a bit so I'll miss France Uraguay this evening , last week I went to Kilnsey and all I missed were people repeating "Well Argentina have a talented squad but their manager is a bit bonkers...ect.....ect....." for the ten millionth time.

Incidentaly what odds can you get on Maradonna bringing himself on as sub?

It's true. Good thing is that with the internet, at least I can watch afternoon games at work.  ;D
