I'm currently working pretty hard to finish off this film, and I thought I'd post up a little teaser to whet your appetites. This will be the first in a series of teasers, so sit back, relax, enjoy, then go and get on the fingerboard.

My ridiculous blurb;

"In early 2009 Tyler Landman decided it was time to face the greatest bouldering challenge on Earth, the sandstone paradise of Fontainebleau. Saving the best for last, Tyler had built up a strong CV including all of the hardest problems from Colorado, Hueco, Cresciano, Magic Wood, and Brione, but Fontainebleau had so far remained below the radar. He set out with only a desire to enjoy the many delicacies in the forest, but quickly began to find his flow and each day would bear witness to another incident of crushing. Making fast repeats of all the forest's hardest and best problems, it was all captured in HD by me (Unclesomebody Productions). The film will feature problems never before seen on film, from the esoteric to the famous, all linked by their supreme quality. The Film is currently in the studio being finished, but it will soon be unleashed upon the world, so prepare yourself for a bucket full of dismay. It will be available directly from www.unclesomebody.com/blog so stay tuned for more details".

More info at my blog, as always.

I'm not fussed for watching stuff on computers innit.

especially if it means buying a new hard drive, graphics card, and upgrading your broadband connection.

I could watch L'Etranger in Full HD on my eight year old PC using VLC with a very old nVidia graphics card.  Use the torrents to download and leave it running overnight/for a day or so and its not that much of a ball-ache.  But then that could be 'cause I'm on Linux  ;)

Still got a DVD off Keith though (and bunged some cash his way for such a top-notch effort).

Yeah, I was surprised how few people donated for that DL.

Could still prove to be a smart move (inadvertently?) by Keith though as the number of people who saw L'Etranger (for free) was the best marketing ever for this film. I bet a lot of those people will now be willing to pay a few quid to watch the new film based on their enjoyment of the first film.

I don't deny that.
The film was free, but donations were accepted.  I watched it, liked it, therefore donated.  It seems most people watched it, loved it, didn't donate.

Odd psychology.  Or maybe Unc did it on purpose- reverse psychology or some shit.

Yes I agree. Had this same discussion before and I said exactly what you're saying. It is odd, I'm just saying it may well have been a blessing in disguise as I think it will mean many more people pay for this film.

I think the marketing of L'Etrnager was quite savvy for the very reasons you've both given.

Note the subtle reference to "Unclesomebody Productions".

Anyway, enough conjecture....new film, bouldering, font, by Unc :bounce:  :bounce: :bounce:

It seems most people watched it, loved it, didn't donate.

Don't forget about people who watched it, didn't rate it, so naturally didn't donate. Or people who thought it was OK but don't necessarily agree that a donation was appropriate.

Yes, but looking at how many people raved about the film on various websites you'd think more than a handful of people would donate.
I just hope it's not a case where a couple of people buy it then pass it around everyone else for free.

I see your point Dave, but if I remember correctly from Uncles blog he stated only three people made any kind of donation. However many more than that were singing the praises of the film on various threads both here and at other venues.
So either:
a) People were saying they liked it because they know Uncle reads this stuff but really they thought it was log (I think this is not the case)
b) Uncle is lying and tonnes of people made a contribution (I think this is not the case)
c) People are tight cunts (sad, but probably the truth)
Or maybe lots of people thought that Unc was a mate so they didn't have to pay, but other people should. Or who the fuck knows what people think, it's generally a mystery to me.
I think it would be a pretty harsh critic who felt the film was worth nothing at all. You don't like it much give him a quid, you think it's average give him a fiver (still a lot less than the cost of a host of other average films out there), you thought it was great drop the lad twenty notes.
It's a shame that more people didn't donate and that the experiment didn't work. I can't say I'm surprised by the outcome but that doesn't mean I'm not disappointed.

I think it's just easier to charge. This removes the ambiguity. Download it for a tenner (example price), or I'll send you a DVD for fifteen quid (example price). L'Etranger had a value, and I'm sure Keith's new vid will certainly have a value given the amount of quality of footage he has, particularly of Tyler.

I agree... charging a nominal fee is a good idea. Donations only work for charities.

Why Jim? Keith has put a lot of effort into this one and the other film and he deserves some kind of payback to at least cover his time and costs.  Maybe a donation is still the way forward but asking for it in advance of the download is going yield better results than afterwards.
