Did anyone make it up there today? I'm hoping to get out in the morning but undecided whether the drive is worth the risk of leakage...Otherwise the Christmas port and mince pies are getting polished off.

Some weird ass sleety snow in Leeds this evening, not sure if it will have plastered the crag or not, I'd probably go for the port!

The Cliff was pretty good this afternoon (Weds). All of DWR area in fine nick. Snow evaporating rather than running off and soaking everything.

Hows the cliff at the moment? Has there been recent snow - or is it a sopping melt fest? - or should I prepare my axes and crampons  :)
Might be passing through tomorrow and was wondering how it is/was...
Cheers,.

It was a combination of both lots of snow and sopping melt-fest today, but the stuff that was dry was super grippy.
DWR was completely soaked when we arrived but had dried out by the end of the day, Si's Arete was Ok, The Virgin Trav and all the stuff on the front face was OK (as long as you didn't want to top out), Underhand was Ok, The Keel, Sloper Patrol, morrel's wall - all fucked.

Today it was primo until the snow started melting, now it's mostly fucked! I turned my back on a dry keel block for a second and then it was soaking. DWR has splashes from drips above, the first warm up area is fairly dry but lots of snow on top. Underhand is fine, and I got most of the snow off the top so it should stay reasonable. There's a lot of snow drift in the parking bays and the road up there is a bit dicey so be careful not to get stuck.

To summarise: MELTFEST.

Does anyone have an up-date from today and what do you reckon it'll be like tomorrow?

Yesterday we brushed the snow off the keel, underhand and patta's arete. Steve's wall and Si's arete were fine too. It snowed last night and this morning in Otley so we just assumed it'd all be trashed today so didn't bother a look in, would be interested to know if it was a complete waste of time!

It was very pretty today....
The keel was ok, Underhand was do-able (I 'did' the extension but couldn't top it out - which was an arse), DWR was ok when we arrived but prob' got wet when the sun came out, Si's Arete Ok, Slopey trav ok up to morrel's wall, front of the Virgin and Virgin trav and extension - primo, other bits and bobs ok as well.

Odd condensation on all roofs, most holds on DWR dry by the time I left (mainly due to chalk and towels, the overchalking of the vertical wall was not my doing!), back of keel roof was wet too but will prob be dry now, although I didn't check on the way back down.

Has anyone been today, or would care to hazard a guess. Minty fresh outside, beautiful skies, roads are dry and its 3 degrees. Could get an hour in at lunchtime....

You summed it up nicely there dob.
It might not be pro (a bit too sunny) yet it will be bo, I suspect an hour won't be long enough on a day like today.
Enjoy.
 :)

Thing is, I am the only one in the office. Now I know this sounds brilliant and that I could swan off all afternoon, but I am supposed to be covering everything. If i go to the wall its 2 mins away and I can pop my laptop on and in the corner, if I go to the cliff I am half an hour away and if anything happens I will be in trouble. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! i want to go outside climbing! damn this work distraction!

You clearly need 3G for the laptop. Type some emails and store in drafts, then send one out every half hour to give the impression you are working. And divert office phone to mobile.
