Should have done it with paper cuts to give a proper indication of pain tolerance.

Discount shags for cyclists!

Cue half of UKB heading to mainland Europe, perhaps hOUD could go on a reconnaissance mission first and scope out standards though

Is there a story to go with this?  Perhaps about Obama wanting to eat children? Any clickety-link thing?

Nope, it was a pic in the Daily Telegraph relating to a new Tussaud's exhibit in Blackpool. For some reason it made me think of Penny wise from Stephen King's "It".

PS I can't find the pic on the Telegraph website now.

It's here.

This is Louis Tussauds which is famous for having some of the least realistic wax models ever. Must admit this is pretty good in comparison to some of theirs I saw a few years back. They were hilarious.

I read about LT's in the book "Bollocks To Alton Towers" - ranking it alongside such attractions as the "British Lawnmower Museum" and "Barometer World" .

Old news...

Discussing the marketing of white cider with a few people earlier today and the names Blackout Cider and Mega White came up. For once someone tries honesty in advertising and they get shot down.

Just in case you were wondering about the old myth

Quote from: Health Xchange community nurse and alcohol worker Jackie Conarty
We did liver toxicity tests on people who drank white ciders and people who drank beers like Tennents Super, which is strong, but is basically malt, water and hops. White ciders are just chemicals. The liver functions were worse in those who drank white ciders.

I think we'll see interest rates rise to some where between 7 and 8%.

When will we?

I've been thinking about this post and wondering where you got the idea from or perhaps what time frame you are talking about. The notion of 7 or 8% interest rates any time in the near future is the polar opposite of what most economists are predicting and in fact the opposite of what members of the government's monetary policy committee are saying.

With inflation continuing to fall at present the likelihood is that VERY low interest rates will continue well into next year and, seriously, can you see rising inflation being a problem any time in the near future? The worry is deflation and therefore more "quantitive easing" would seem to be on the cards rather than interest rate rises which would do the opposite of what is necessary.

However, if your statement is more of an "at some point in the future" stab in the dark then fair enough. They probably will reach those levels at some point but that doesn't really have any relevance does it!  ;)

Explain yourself!  :P

Sorry, you can't take pictures here, you're too tall (well sort of).

In contrast there was a recent clarification for the Metropolitan Police states...

Quote
Freedom to photograph/film

Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel.

Photography and Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000

The Terrorism Act 2000 does not prohibit people from taking photographs or digital images in an area where an authority under section 44 is in place.

Officers have the power to view digital images contained in mobile telephones or cameras carried by a person searched under S44 of the Terrorism Act 2000, provided that the viewing is to determine whether the images contained in the camera or mobile telephone are of a kind, which could be used in connection with terrorism. Officers also have the power to seize and retain any article found during the search which the officer reasonably suspects is intended to be used in connection with terrorism.

Photography and Section 43 of the Terrorism Act 2000

Officers have the power to view digital images contained in mobile telephones or cameras carried by a person searched under S43 of the Terrorism Act 2000 to discover whether they have in their possession anything which may constitute evidence that they are involved in terrorism. Officers also have the power to seize and retain any article found during the search which the officer reasonably suspects may constitute evidence that the person is involved in terrorism.

Section 58a of the Terrorism Act 2000

Section 58a of the Terrorism Act 2000 covers the offence of eliciting, publishing or communicating information about members of the armed forces, intelligence services or police.

Any officer making an arrest for an offence under Section 58a must be able to demonstrate a reasonable suspicion that the information was of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

It should ordinarily be considered inappropriate to use Section 58a to arrest people photographing police officers in the course of normal policing activities, including protests, as without more, there is no link to terrorism.
