The start of something good?

hmm, we'll wait and see.. I use the E coast line quite a bit, and the differences between GNER and Nat.Express were..... well, I couldn't really see any.. same old trains, with a few different stripes on the side...

Be interesting to see how well they do.. AFAIK they are creating a public 'company' to run it...

Thats what I think is potentially a good thing, nationalisation of public transport instead of leaving it in the hands of greedy share holders who want profit maximised.

Bit harsh:

He later stressed that the figure "is a projection. It is not a fact. This is how the disease could develop and we don't know."

The fact is we won't know as they aren't testing everyone now, and they certainly won't be testing everyone in a month.

Its a very poor projection though.  Look at how the tabloids have sensationalised it and it will now be interpreted by the general public.

If you don't know how things are going to pan out, there's no point in attempting to spread panic by quoting poorly researched and projected estimates.

Everyone should read this...

My brother who used to live in Lyon told me that the local CRS used to put road grit and salt into the water cannon. Nice.

Or like the SA Police, you just spray the road in front of them and it throws up and stones and stuff lying around. Equally nice.

Great plan. Instead of better training, accountability, proper government direction etc for the police, just give em bigger weapons.

If I were an IFA I'd be checking my PI insurance as recommending ayone take out one of those loans must surely be getting close to the text book definition of negligent (although to be fair I don't think pure financial loss would be recoverable in that situation).

borrowers also have to pass a stress test to ensure they can still afford the mortgage repayments if interest rates have risen to 9% or 10% once the fixed-rate element of the loan has expired.

So far none of the Nationwide's customers have taken up its offer.

I think we'll see interest rates rise to some where between 7 and 8%.
