Anyway, deadhangs are an isometric exercise, and in theory forearm muscles will respond similarly to isometric training as other muscle groups, for which there is some research out there. 4 or 5 x 30s have been shown to be optimum for hypertrophy, done at 80%+ of max. Less time at higher intensity will probably train recruitment.
