exploits in font
January 04, 2007, 07:55:24 am

Andy and Gaz have been in the forest for a couple of days now and you can follow their exploits by having a look at their blogs. Also posting video footage from the trip on a daily basis on youtube.

By the weekend the rest of the british team will be in full force here so expects lots of repeats, if it doesn't rain.

Love the Queen Kong footage on Earls' site, the sketch at the top is perfect.  That problem looks world class.

Just for the record, the problem at cuvier is called neverland, NOT never never land which is an unkle album. Suprised to see how stroppy he was when he fell off...

Have you never been to a BBC final?

I have, Junior Mastermind.  Although I'm pretty sure Andy Earl wasn't competing.  He had a good disguise if he was.

I think Never never land might have been thought of as a name before any album.

I wonder where they're getting their broadband from, gite?  Formula1?  nine-twelvety sponsored satellite uplink phone?  I'll have to remember to watch the footage when I get home.

Oh my goodness me yes. Never before has the world seen such strops as the Earl dropping final problems on the last hold. The one in that video is not that bad!

However, I believe James Hetfield arrived at those lyrics after his visit to Ramshaw Rocks in the mid-80s.  Staffordshire folklore says he was shut down by the top move of Tierdrop and gave a particularly furious performance at Leek Town Hall that night.

Chinese whispers at work I'm afraid... you are only partially correct.  The bouldering team are in fact guests at Formula 1 driver David Coulthard's luxurious Monaco base/harem.  Each day he transports them directly to their chosen projects by private jet, sports car, and slave-borne palanquin. Andy Earl's fall from neverland was caused by the sheer weight of sophisticated telemetry sensors he was wearing in order to monitor horsepower and boot rubber wear.  With this valuable information the British crew will be able to use SCIENCE to perfectly regulate their consumption of baguettes and "rolies" throughout future days' climbing.

Unfortunately this marriage of climbing and racing has aroused some suspicion and jealousy amongst the rest of the Formula community.  It is rumoured that Frank Williams, aroused by the prospect of a replete 8a scorecard, plans to dynamite Bas Cuvier and ride his wheelchair triumphantly over the rubble.  Sadly the only other option appears to be Bernie Ecclestone's rival plan to airlift the forrest to various locations in China, the UAE, and the Pacific Rim nations where "their potential for viewership in the emerging growth markets may be maximised".

name drop alert: gaz did tell me that they were indeed staying in the formular1 (just after he threw a massive strop at cuvier then swiftly dispatched the problem next go stating "that is what is needed, a good strop and throw your boot against the rock")
