I don't know anything about photoshopping; how can you tell??? I can see some pixelly blurring around Si's lower body if I look very carefully, is that it? Do you work for forensics? Do you need jelly eyes to see it?

I second the chap who said they'd buy a Si O'Conker stonker book; please publish your memoirs Si!

You know, at some point, I was willing to give Si O the benefit of the doubt, and have an entirely neutral perspective on what he may, or may not, have done o_O

my thoughts entirely, perhaps I should register ukmutualdickstroking.com  - and how can he slag off forum users for not doing any real climbing, but then produce a huge rambling blog all on his own. Odd.

As for trad mo charaid, most of the time for me, it's about stickin yer testicles in yer mouth, shuttin' the fuck up, & soloing out there through the roofs, 26 mtrs above a death-drop, to recce the gear [& believe me, you would'nt want to fall off at this point, you have to have it in hand]. Inadvertantly however, you may find youv'e added another insane v9 into the equation. The only problem with that is, you need to be able to climb E9 to get to it.

is he for real? or is it the drugs...?

is it me, or is Si O' Connor the Ian Bell of climbing? Stay with me...

1) On paper he seems like he's world class
2) He has some big numbers under his belt
3) No-one seems to have seen him contribute anything useful in front of world class peers

Pure speculation only. It's pretty easy to phop in a background if you turn a picture into a dark B+W and blur the added background to give the impression of depth of field effect.
I might have a go later and see what I can come up with.

Aaah, so you're saying that the whole foreground of Si on that lump of rock might actually just be a little boulder in a field which he's overlaid on some landscape shot of a crashing sea. Hmmmm, I could (technically) believe that. Seems pretty slick if that's the case though, is it really quite easy then :?:

Here's a pretty poor example of the sort of thing. I only have Paintshop at work which is a very blunt tool compared to Photoshop.

The key thing for making this easy is to make sure the boundry between the two images is as bland dark and simple as possible, darkening, blurring and de-saturating all help with this . Hence why Si's pic is the sort which could be easily produced from two halves. That doesn't mean it is of course.

Here's one I prepared earlier. Not exactly what I was talking about, but it shows the sort of trickery that can be done.
Spot the difference. Before

After

Of course I didn't tell Ru about this when I gave him the pic for the bouldering guide

I think that, that is being a bit harsh on Mr Bell, for a start; he hasn't adopted a nationality to give himself some mystical auora, he has failed very publicly and taken criticism on the chin, also when out for 0 he hasn't then walked into the scorers hut and put himself down for 150 n.o. And lastly he did take some great catches and therefore given us one thing to like him for. :?

You've got a bigger chalkbag in the second one, and your goatee's blowing a slightly different way.

Ok, folks, I've had a PM from Si who's concerned about the way this topic is heading.

Please discuss whatever you want his routes/problems, but leave things about his personal life out of this.

I see he has taken to borrowing problem names again "Eat Yerself Whole". This is the name of one of tc's problems at Langstrath. I suppose it was a coincidence

More likely Greg, they both took the name from the album, by Kingmaker or someone I think?

Nope. I was on a 'things that require time and effort to do' theme. Hence: "Eat Yourself Whole" and its companion problem "Bonsai Your Cat".

The 1970s had a profound effect on me   although the current medication is helping with the flashbacks (to Mc Callum)
