Word and dog/dogg/dawg are carried over from hiphop of a certain generation, not specific to climbing.

In Italy it's become common to say "la methode" instead of the Ialian word for "beta".

I've always found the expression to "take" a hold (as in "I take that as an undercut") strange. Not sure why.

I like that different climbers and different areas and regions have their own little vocabulary. My experience of climbing with people from different countries is that you teach each other your terms, take the piss out of them then unintentionally start using them yourself.

I taught my mates in the US that the only acceptable form of encouragement was to say "go on" in a barely excited tone and that our only congratulations were "effort" and "nice one" with even less emotion. Pretty funny when you've got a bunch of US climbers trying not be loud and positive  like a reverse version of everyone in West Coast Gimps saying "All right!!" all the time I suppose.

Calling problems boulders is just bizarrely wrong though. It's like referring to routes as cliffs or houses as streets.

I like all the different words people use - language is constantly evolving and people trying different words that sometimes stick (and sometimes not) is great and I find it entertaining.

Spraying beta does sound like something our cat does though :D
