Alicante Sport climbing
January 01, 2016, 01:31:32 pm
I am sat on a plane ready to take off to Alicante for six days having booked a last minute flight last night. I've never climbed out there and don't know the area. As it was New Year's Eve I haven't been able to get the guide but have managed to download the Rockfax Costa Blanca app.

I would really appreciate some advice on the best places to climb at whilst I'm there and any route recommendations between onsight 6c and redpoint 7b+. Would prefer short walk-ins and ideally routes that aren't long pump fests. Also, are there any climbing shops in the Alicante area where I could get the Rockfax Costa Blanca guide?

All help welcome!

the route Costa Blanca on the Penon is a very cool sub 6c (says 6c+ in the guide, but it's not) bolted multi-pitch route

Sella is a varied and popular crag - short walk ins, easy to find partners

Never climbed there, but a quick google threw up the following:

local climbing association
http://www.femecv.com/

bouldering wall
http://www.buldergravedadzero.es/

guidebook website

Suerte :)

Where are you staying?

Chulilla isn't far away (2h30?) and has some great stuff.

Sella wildside and Gandia up the coast are worthwhile. Also Boveda is Orhieula
