Obviously these options are proportional to your current standard (if that makes sense)

Was going to offer that as option 5, but thought everyone would choose that as an easy option.

Still can't get my head round working anything for more than about 20 minutes and still aim for the onsight (or very quick ascent).  But that's because I can't get away from my route mentality...  but I'm starting to mature as a boulderer.  Hopefully one day I'll become able to spend the best part of a year returning every week to try to successfully achieve one hand movement.  Finally managing the said movement after several thousand miles of travel and hundreds of hours stood in frustration underneath five foot of rock.

something between options 2 and 3 is what does it for me - whilst i like working things a while, if its taking forever and not been got in a handfull of visits then its time to go away and train a bit and come back stronger / lighter and with better technique

When I go to my local venues I'll do a load of easier stuff first few times, then go on to stuff that I try everytime I go.  At the moment I've been working them for months, but I wouldn't be surprised if they turn into years.  When I go somewhere that I won't visit very often I try all the classic problems and some that are hard, but do-able that visit, rather than stuff I'll have no chance on.

I'm a bit surprised at this. I figured the bouldering cogniscenti would all go for option 4.
