I really enjoy sessions. Watch it a few times and its still good, with surreal momentts, like climbing big grades in bunny costumes, and interviewing local rednecks?

It's just hard to make a bouldering film that everyone likes I guess - is there one?

Not heard many complaints about Black Lung - short, interesting and showing the best sides of the Ben and Jerry roadshow.

those were the down sides of that DVD for me - the bunny was just plain wierd and the 'redneck' thing was a bit OTT

Very nicely shot film though - the only 'real' down side was that it lacked any continuity / story between all the areas and seemed a bit disjointed.

I think the one i revisit more than any other is Frequent Fliers - but thats mostly to remind me to get my arse in gear and visit Castle Hill and Japan!

Yeah, Black Lung is excellent - was it ever released apart from on the web? I suppose it's a bit short to stand on it's own.

There's a V12 that Stephen Jeffries (I think) is trying in B.L. which looks like the living end of gnarlyness.

Pilgrimage seems to be generally liked amongst most people I know who've seen it...  if only they would just climb and not talk in that film.  Can't do stuff with words in, same applies to music.

Heh heh, a few people on this site have slated Pilgrimage big style.

Yeah seeing that film made my mind up that it was a good idea to move to NZ and live in Christchurch.  Thus setting the scene for over 120 visits to Castle Hill over the 13 months that I lived in NZ!

Have you seen the Dan Jenkins film Contact ? - just about all shot up at the Hill and good for getting beta on stuff before you go out.  Some nice climbing, but not the best bouldering film, but they're learning out there. :)

And I can see why.  Quite a few of the lines in the film have become standard piss take fair between me and me mates...  Quote:  "I'm like here.  But Chris, he's like there man".  Feckin yank babble.

Turn the sound off, make a brew when they start talking and the film ain't half bad.  Some quality looking moves get pulled.

Anyone seen the Aussie EOS 1 & 2 Films?

Worth getting?

frequent flyers is good, but it annoys me the constant use of a fisheye lens, and also the place they go to in Oz with garth miller looks shit, i'd have much rather watched them bouldering at that hollow grading cave, or the other good stuff i've seen photos of.

And they talk in Freq Fliers.  And talking is pointless.

But they do climb that V0 at the plantation, so its good to see the best of UK bouldering on show!

on his dvd's jon has a menu option 'all the tricks with none of the bits'

i think this is what we'd all like on future dvd's right? that you have the choice of the film, and/or just the bouldering. word.

Yo carnage, I have both eos 1 and II, i wouldnt bother buying no 1 its a bit phooooooooooooo

but the second one is shit hot, really good, lots of fred nicole kicking the locals arses. Also has young toby b on it doing an unrepeated V5 its sick.

In reply to black lung, yes it has been released on VHS, i have a copy, its about 22 mins long with a couple of other bits on it. Its actually a sweet little video    you can buy it here

htttp://www.newenglandbouldering.com

I get all my videos from here, cheap and they normally only take a week to get here.

I think i have bought ober 40 videos from them.

Another good videom although in german is evolution revolution, by klwem himself. Doing hard bouldeing in siberia -22 and then of to some naked deep water soling in majorca

thats a good idea. i think i heard on the Bo Selecta DVDs you can watch just all the parts from any selected character, which must be the same kinda idea.

to be honest though, a truly great film shouldn't have you reaching for the fastforward button. the i can't think of one so far that is like this though.

Pulp Fiction, thats a great film that don't need no fast forwarding.   But to be fair the bouldering's shit in it.

There's some great bits in Consumed. Dan H on Gaia is one of the most palm-sweaty bits of climbing footage I've ever seen.

 :D  :D  :D  :D  MMMMMM were can I get a copy of this????????? anyone

Another good one - which no one here seems to have cottoned on to, is The Road - you'll have seen most of the clips (Petzl Rock thingy in Bishop / So Ill / Triassic / The Gunks etc..) on cxm and other sites but its still a pretty sweet bouldering vid

I think the reason you see the V0 in Frequent Fliers is due to the weather.Durign the weeek they were here rained solidly all the time, so I wouldn't be surpirsed if the stanage action in the video is the sum total of the climbing they did in the uk. So there wasn't much footage to chose from given the piss wetness.
On another topic, has anybody been able to get the Road dvd or video in the UK or Europe. I have only found it available in the US by people who won't ship to the UK... But I haven't tried that supplier mentioned above... Maybe I should before I complete this sentence oh fuck it.
And just for the record. I think Stick It is good. I love JGs traverse, the ultimate example of bouldering: Scrapping around on a super rock hard traverse talking about how death hard it is, then when he finally finishes it he steps down 1 ft to the ground. Daft.
And I think the bit when Ben falls off the geezers shoulders in Northumberland is fucking funny "can you walk out a bit, OUT A BIT,    Woah Woh". Man shakes head.
It could videographes in joke of course because Jerry does the exact same thing in The Real Thing.

go straight to the source and get it from Mike Call - the guy who made it - www.movementfilms.com (he also just uses USPS which is by far the cheapest of any of the shipping from the States i've had - was less than US$10, which considering most places try and charge the same as the DVD itself is not bad)

Where is the cheapest for getting region 2 DVDs? www.sendit.com seems to have quite good prices.

And how about other region DVDs? (might be able to hack DVD player to multi region?)
