Corbyn

I'm a bit surprised that nobody has started this thread. In fact the man has barely been mentioned on the forums, which is surprising since UKB is a notorious hotbed of pinko Marxists.

I'd be interested to hear your opinions of him (if you have any). His look of bewilderment when surrounded by his young, white, middle class, hipster followers very much reminded me of Dan Ashcroft when proclaimed as The Preacher Man.

He was quite funny in Gavin and Stacey.

sometimes it's nice to have a place free from all that, just for a bit anyway.

He's just what we need, regardless of which side of the political divide you sit. Someone who is willing to put his beliefs before electability.

Apparently.

Only time will tell if he admits the power dab.

Love that my former employer is so clearly on the wrong side of the Conservative party ruling clique and hope he stays there. (The world would be so much better if he just shuffled off really and I very rarely feel that way about anyone).
Looking forward to some possibly radical shifts and hopefully a real three way split (left, right and centre); as opposed to right, slightly less right and wishywashy.

Imho Corbyn is unelectable as PM.

But I hope he manages to shake up politics in general in the UK. I think much of his (reputed - only reputed) policy ideas are wack - but his attitude and resistance to spin and the Westminster / Media bollocks is refreshing and I hope that changes some things. It may not - but it's interesting to watch.

As a rule, I don't really like talking politics: I'm partly of Irish descent, and I like their rule that talking politics or religion with strangers is rude.

That said...  I'll simply offer this.

1.  You don't replace someone you don't like by going out and finding the nearest lunatic.

2.  Whether he's stuck his cock in dianne abbott or a pig, it matters not.

3.  In London amongst the fashionable vegetarians, he's very popular.  They need to knuckle down and apply themselves, whether that's to climbing or working is up to them.

Most people on here have done a fair bit of climbing and thought about it carefully enough to have an opinion worth listening to. Spouting from a position of ignorance is what the other channel is for, obviously.

Let's not be the political equivalent of that. If Sloper's contribution taught me anything, it was the inanity of airing views that were entrenched by the 4th form and scarcely developed since.

Lock and log. And take that Kilnsey bolt thread with it.

True, we do seem to lack the requisite experience or intimate knowledge of our Porcine cousins to make informed comment on political matters.

After all, it's not as if it's any of our business what our betters get up to...
