"Car was originally MR2" It still is a fucking MR2!

its the brakes that give away most cars like that.

10 years ago or so me and the ex went to look at a house to buy.in his drive was a mk3 escort 1.1 popular but inside the rear wheels were a set of big disks.my interest went from the house to the car.
it had cossie running gear and a 270hp cosworth engine.
in his garage was a moonstone grey 3 door cosworth, minus the engine but he had the engine.said if we have the house its mine.we didnt have the house, and i didnt have the car

Video from Calgary yesterday: Beemer SUV driver takes 5 minutes to reverse from parking space, damages another vehicle but leaves scene of accident

I've watched this a few times and still can't believe it's real. No-one can be that shit.

I have heard second hand that a Land Rover exec said "we just can't make them expensive enough". Footballer A turns up one week with his latest Urban Ponce Chariot and suddenly all his mates want one, but of course they have to have what the first knobhead had plus a load of other pointless shit.

I'm afraid that none of you have anything on what I have to put up with in the car. I drive a C1 through Bradford which is absolutely stacked with teenagers racing around on huge quad bike monstrosities (which have killed children in the past through careless "driving") or in pimped out Range Rovers (electric blue is a common colour). I don't know where the money is coming from.
Other cars are seen as obstacles that must be overcome, preferably at at least twice the speed limit. Being in a C1, you are seen as being beyond contempt, no matter what speed you are actually doing.

Is a C1 like a C5?

Yes?

Is a C1 like a C5?
A C5 is 5x as good but the driver's attire is comparable

I have to say, the driving in Bradford is pretty much the worst I have witnessed in the UK

:agree: lived there for 10 years and still drive through it on a regular basis to get to my folks. from the M606 to roughly Saltaire roundabout feels like a being part of a substantial urban experiment to test the boundaries of freeform driving

Thessalonika is the worst driving I've ever seen.
There was a lane coned out for no apparent reason, car drives along thunk, thunk, thunk knocking the cones over one by one - either totally oblivious or just didn't care.
Parking in the middle of the street to go shopping and blocking the entire town one way system was completely normal.

You clearly have not spent much time in Lincolnshire.

LSD pales into insignificance compared to the 'phrique

But for truly insane driving try rural Sardinia.

Craziest driving / traffic I've seen was on a recent trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.

Super heavy traffic, regularly mopeds with families of 5 on them/fully loaded with all the stuff you'd normally have in an estate car. But the rule of the road was that there are no rules! Frequenlty would have someone coming down the wrong way on a one way street or on the wrong side of the road - I think the rationale was that it was OK if you were near the edge and needed to pull over.

On the motorways the rule seemed to be that whoever had the biggest vehicle wins (which makes a kind of terrifying sense). Overtaking was achieved by pulling out into the oncoming traffic and flashing your lights and beeping your horn at them until either they moved or you had to pull in because otherwise you would crash.

I wouldn't even contemplate driving any distance there as a tourist.

I had a scooter for a few months in a small town (by Indian standards - around 700k inhabitants at the time) in India. It went quite ok for quite a while - although I would certainly never have attempted driving in an actual big city- until one day my nerve just suddenly went. Battle fatigue.

X5 in front of me at the lights this evening

the lights turned green and his/her reverse lights came on, then off, then on again as it reversed a quick couple of feet, then a forward option must have been selected because it shot off in the conventional direction

odd

I confess to having been a bit of a twat driver, once or twice, in the past...

In my Dubai days I drove a Hummer. I'd been having coffee with a client in the Madinat centre and when I returned to the car, mid afternoon, I appeared to be almost the only vehicle in the underground lot.
I didn't bother observing the niceties of the painted lines and simply turned hard left out of the space toward the exit.

And straight over an A4.

I didn't stop.

No damage to the beast.

If it's a manual gear box I can sympathise. If you force it into 1st from neutral it goes into reverse. Can't stand driving the BMW.
