Did you ever find a version of the dj food mash up without the documentary bits in?

It's still out there ont web. Google "DJ Food Raiding the 20th Century Original", or "DJ Food XFM Superchunk" In fact I had a little look and I think this is one without the dialogue, but I didn't want to download it to check:

Pretty fresh but definitely not funky, I've placed an order for the last batch of dark ambient this winter (autumn / winter music only) :

Bad Sector - Kosmodoro
Hive Mind - Sand Worms
Kammarheit - The Starwheel
Merzbow - Merzbird
Merzbow - Merzbuddha
Raison D'Etre - The Empty Hollow Unfolds

Oooooh I'm filled with anticipation already   .

Other than that I've mostly been listening to drum'n'bass of various descriptions including online mixes and CDs by Black Sun Empire, Tayla, Mampi Swift, Future Prophecies, J Majik, etc etc.

Anyone hear the Arctic Monkey's cover of Girls Aloud's "Love Machine" that was on R1? Sheer class

Quote from: "fatneck"
I heard it, they were having a reet grin by the sound of it.
Bought the album yesterday, is excellent.

I don't want to add to the already hysterical hype, but I've just listened to the Arctic Monkeys album tonight for the first time properly and I really like it.

Must be why I found it pretty dismal too, even after repeated listening. I guess I didn't get all the "in" references.

I do like them, but they've been hyped up far too much and will recieve an inevitable backlash. They're good but a long way from being great, original or life changing (unlike fightstar  ). Cover of Love Machine is very funny though, especially when they start pissing themsevles halfway through it.

thing to do is avoid the hype. much better than the generic dogshit around at the minute; frank rio ferdinand, editors, al the american shit blah blah.

on a differrent note; anyone checked out the Gnarls Barley track? album due soon. incredible sound.

i reckon the arctic monkeys are as generic as anything you've listed there. putting mike skinner lyrics over guitars and drums is hardly original. but i agree they are vastly superior to franz ferdinand; possibly the band i hate the most in the world.

The only thing the Arctic Monkeys are good for has been inspiring me and a few mates to start a band in a bid for international stardom, the thinking being that it really must be a piece of piss if those spotty yoofs can pull it off.
