Both sets within my family are from the affected JBE batch. Does anyone know what the failure mechanism is/was?

Nope. I'm pretty sure I've got some of the big rocks with the 0120 mark, need to check.

Luckily I've not bought any rocks since 1997.

I've one of seventeen of mine which match. Not too bad, really, nice shiny new nut plus a Xenon quickdraw as compensation for postage and no detrimental effect on my rack.

Luckily most of my nuts come off ebay and are far too old to be faulty.

Getting fatter, not fitter.

Thankfully all mine fell out mid-crux yesterday thus avoiding the embarrassment of them snapping unexpectedly.

Not yet, but I have received an email indicating receipt of the returned one.
I'm not overly surprised though as I imagine they have thousands and thousands to sort through.

I expect its only a very small proportion of nuts that are dubious, but why delay getting them replaced? Beyond the obvious reason of wanting to use them, which can surely be addressed by borrowing your mates when at the crag, I don't see any point in delaying.

They've had around 77,000 returned!
They are dealing with consumer returns 1st, most of which by the sounds of things are being totally replaced.
