Anyone else just watched "its kevin"? Verdict?

I'l be honest, I though it was a massive disappointment.

I lasted 6 mins. Didn't smile once. Sometimes I put it down to being too old (no longer into teenage humour) but I don't think it'd be funny to them. I'm struggling to think which demographic this would appeal to...

I haven't seen this yet but I love Kevin Eldon. I am a bit worried about watching this though as there's probably a reason why he's been in the business for so long and not had a TV show until now.

We watched it as he's seeing my Missus's cousin, is a thouroughly decent bloke and I've always liked his stuff but I have to say that I can't find much good to say about it unfortunately..

I'm not sure what I was hoping for in a sketch show (not really my cuppa in general) but it seemed a bit disjointed and didn't really make me laugh - I thought the intro was apalling too...

Hoping it gets bettter really.....

When I first heard about this I thought it would be the best thing ever as Eldon is a comedy genius but then when I read the Guardian article about it, it sounded a bit shit. I don't think I'll bother now as I'd prefer to remember stuff like this instead:

I know it's not written by him but reading this thread made me find this classic

It's Kevin. It's Crap.

Some bits quite good as expected but it's moving too slowly and a lot of the jokes seem to be taken from Family Guy (they had something about Peter Griffin having a soundtrack to his life and the guy flinching in pain for about 5 minutes which was also a running theme in Family Guy) and it seems to be bizarrely xenophobic (a quick sketch about a French guy and a horrible lottery, why does it need to be Portuguese?)

It's such a shame as he's a truly funny bloke. His part in the first series of Partridge was so brilliantly played.

Maybe if we all post up some classic Eldon clips I can erase my memory of last night.

I'll start us off:

I read the positive newspaper reviews of It's Kevin and thought, in advance of viewing, you were all being a bit harsh..... then I saw the programme.  I sincerely apologise for ever doubting the taste of the UKB massive!

The material was weak but that might well improve - many ultimately successful sketch shows have ropey beginnings.  But, to me, the entire format seems misjudged.  Eldon's perennial presence in disquieting comedies owes a lot to him being, frankly, very good at seeming creepy.  He always reminds me of those fishes that live under frozen-over seas: a pallid, dead-eyed relic of some earlier, colder era.  So all these matey little straight-to-camera links just don't work.  He can't pull them off: he's insufficiently charismatic; he's not funny-ha-ha, rather he's funny-peculiar.  He's like the sketch show equivalent of Steve Buscemi: talented, capable of stealing scenes, but not a leading man.

Boardwalk Empire. But apart from that I agree.
