Waddage bolt pulled out
October 25, 2012, 07:08:40 pm
The first bolt on waddage after the Chimes belay pulled out with the outward pull from lowering off today   :o It was one with the 2nd in situ draw and ancient steel screwgate (the 1st in situ draw is the one before on the last moves of Chimes). Quite worrying! although it would have probably held falls where there was no outward pull.  This needs a replacement bolt.

I'm not sure it was lost in the bushes when it pulled out, probably over 20 years old, actually from before Waddage was bolted but you used to clip this as the first one after leaving chimes. I think it was a petzl one?

Sure it didn't snap rather than pull out? probably a rusty expansion

If it's that old could be mild steel or anything? In that case they don't last long!

That bolt is less than 10 years old, installed in less than perfect rock. No idea who is going to spare the time to replace it for you though? This is not Wales you know.

Was up there on Friday and this is all bollox. No bolt pulled out at all, nut and hanger just fell off. The bolt stud is still in. It will be replaced in time for next season with a revamped Chimes pitch 2 to play on.
