Real real longshot: stuck in Bergamo
March 06, 2012, 10:12:31 pm
OK I know this is almost impossible but it looks like Ill be stuck in Bergamo until Friday with work.
I've only got hand luggage and business clothes but does anyone know (Nibile maybe ?) if there is any bouldering or a wall nearby ? The alps are temptingly close (albeit snow covered) Obviously ill need to buy/hire some very lightweight kit etc.
Any help much appreciated.
Might not be able to repy soon so thanks in advance.
Failing all that Ill just go to the gym, run, gorge myself on lovely food and practice my Italian  :)

I went from Como to Cresciano in an hour last week and you're about 45 min more. Milano has several walls, easy train ride from Bergamo. Never visited any yet but a few look good on line...
Train to Milano and then up to Cresci? It's right by the tracks (they run through the village) but I'm not sure if there's a station there.

Lecco is a simple train ride or 45min drive and there's a fair bit to do there...

There are worse places to be stuck.

Shame you weren't there last week, I'd have come and picked you up.

mainly what Oldmatt said.
yes, there is a train station in Cresciano, from there you can be at the boulders in probably less than 30 mins walking. I'm sure it's easy to get a ride also.
otherwise Milano offers walls and the obvious posh-vip-highlife entertainment.
the main wall in Milano is called WAY OUT and all the climbers I know from the zone go there. they go to Cresciano or Chironico every weekend (lucky bastards) so it will be easy to get in a car!!!
if you need I can drop them a line on FB.

Thanks very much for the replies Matt and Lore.
Things changed late last night and I ended up coming home. Back out there again tomorrow, but no chance of climbing this time.
