I'm staring wistfully at my snow boots and trying to ignore the fact that despite the entire country having tons of the white stuff to play with, we have bugger all.
Kids are gutted.
Daddy's none too chuffed.

At least it's stopped raining.

We've been sledging all morning and we're just going inside for hot chocolate. I love snow! Only down side is it's a bit too a powdery to make snowmen.

I am really losing the little sanity I had left. ten days of holidays, one day on rock. I am bored of spending entire days at home, can't train the whole fucking time. more shitty weather to come.
I'm really really in a bad mood.

tell me about it, if i consider climbing outside in the uk, the weather is shit. i've climbed outside once each month since october... (not including switzerland where I climbed more days outside in a week than I have in the uk since september!)

that will be me next week... only working 2 days - and it looks like no MTB... or bouldering outside... darn it.

Can anyone tell me if there is anywhere in Sheffield that has had such bad snow somebody wouldn't be able to get to work in Rotherham (the Sheffield side) today???

One of our trainees phoned in and said they were snowed in. I live in Nether Edge and other than moving the snow from my windscreen it was like any other Monday commute.

I'm thinking slacker - and I wander about the professionalism of the medical workforce these days.

P.s There's no reason why she couldn't use public transport - other than its not the quickest way to get in.

Woodseats to Chapeltown was no bother at all and I took the back roads instead of Chesterfield Rd/Queens Rd as it seemed everyone thought they'd be bad so were sticking to the main routes.

Of course I'm sure there were some side roads that weren't very good to drive on (ours wasn't great) but when the main roads are all totally clear it doesn't sound like a great excuse. I think the council did a good job of gritting in advance this time.

It was intersting driving over the pennines today from west to east.

4-5 degrees in Manchester, 6 or7 over the tops of the Pennines (all on 62) about 5-6 near Leeds. Then plummeted to 2.5 at Ferrybridge, before entering the freezing fog until Hull. Quite clear where the cold air met warm air! Impressive plume from Ferrybridge/Drax's cooling towers...

Still a good couple of inches on the grass here in Hullestershire..

but how was the run tom? When I drove under the motorway at junction 24 it was a complete stand still heading to Leeds and backing up onto ainley top round about. That was at 7 ish

I left manc at about 9:30, heard traffic was bad 21-24, so stopped at Birch (I think) services for a long coffee and email sort out.. 45 min later all fine - sailed through.
Apparently they'd over-run with the roadworks, so two lanes were still closed until 7-7:30 = chaos...

Just blatted back over the snake from manc - about 2-3pm - glorious - only saw about 2 cars on it, I guess most folk have been put off

- was clear of snow and ice all the way and didn't drop below freezing (according to the dash) all the way.

Even the BMW drivers in my practice got in!
