I didn't know that Ryobi made tea. What's the battery life like?

My Ryobi tea is petrol not electric.. it sometimes has a little film on the surface..

Honestly.

Since the kids came along, I've found the desire to do the death defying stuff has faded...
But the kids love to boulder, they love going to the wall.
My youngest is two now and to be honest spends most of his time at the wall playing with the owners dog.
I found the best way to keep my training going and keep the kids interested is to "challenge" each other. "Right daddy, now left hand on the little red one over there..."
We went to the crag/wall together in the early days and just took turns looking after the tots while the other climbed.
And I've found that often turning up at the crag/wall and asking a complete stranger "Uh, would you mind belaying me on this?" works pretty well...
Just turn it into a family fun day.
My eldest, six on Saturday, joins in with the fingerboard training (well, sort of) at home and is happy to go off and boulder on her own (Doing V1 already) while Daddy bangs his head against that new V7...
She often finds it amusing to see me fall...
Now with my wife's illness, she's not climbing, she tends to sit and drink coffee and chat to the wall staff and keep the little monster from causing too much trouble...

Dave Macleod doesn't seem to have slowed down much since dadhood.

But fortunately for him, climbing is his work.

Bet if all you dads gave up your jobs and only climbed you'd get lots done.

Its part of the GORE-TEX® Experience Tour from what I understand so he's sponsored/paid (expenses at least I'd imagine) to be out there.

I'd love work like that if I could get it, but I'm shit (and lack the motivation to train shit loads so always will be!)

Yes, well, the difference being that I just spent a week in the Alps puntering around with clients and have somehow accrued a massive brownie point deficit due to it being 'climbing'  :(

On a related note, the subject of the shelf life of brownie points came up recently amongst some of my climbing dad mates.

The feeling was that any brownie points accrued should be cashed in immediately as they are likely to have disappeared into thin air very quickly!

So, even if you don't feel like going out climbing - just take the pass while it is still available.

(my wife'll kick my arse if she ever reads this!  ;D - actually (back pedalling slightly, just in case she does) she usually doesn't mind too much, as I always come back in a much better mood, endorphines being what they are.)

True on shelf life of brownie points. The longer you leave them, the less valuable they become as selective memory kicks in. But on the other hand you also need to prioritise using them.

amen to that, however selective memory means there's no point reminding them of this, especially if the kids have just thown up down her cleavage...

the boundless enthusiasm helps when the pass appears and it starts to rain and all your mates eff off  on their own little schemes... :boohoo:

Quarry snorkelling anyone? :2thumbsup: :-\

So Iris is now nearly 9 months and I've been managing to get out at least once a week, sneaking a few crag hits in here and then when I've been away with work (Font being one !!!)
I have definitely noticed my strength/technique waning though due to not getting out enough.
I've just accepted that at the moment life is about the sprog and getting out is a bonus rather than a given. It'll certainly improve when I can take the kid out to the crag.
Location helps (i.e. I live <10 minute drive from about 8 local Lancs quarries...)
Having a home wall helps (mine just needs some more holds to finish it off...)
Forward planning and 'planting the seed' are good techniques to being issued with a pass (you need to water the seed though...), and you must ALWAYS take the pass when offered - never hesitate due to the aforementioned selective memory/devalued brownie point ratio etc...

Love this thread...

My two are five and two and love going out bouldering, the wife has now started bouldering as was feeling left out. Fingerboard in the garage stops me getting weaker. I've found it much easier to get out as my littlest has got older. But I really miss full long days out.carrying ten tons of assorted bollocks does stop you having to warm up

AAArrrrggghhh!

rr more importantDespite previous comments...

Couldn't get to the wall yesterday, due to inconciderate daughter having birthday today.

Why, oh why can't they see the wall was far more important than buying presents and party organising???

Bugger!

She was reading over my shoulder...

Anyone know first aid?

I seem to be losing alot of blood...
