Guildford gangstaz?
June 09, 2011, 09:57:14 pm
Word up homies,

As a result of a short deadline / crazy project I'm getting sent down to Guildford on Sunday, gonna be there until Thursday.

Long shot I know, but wondered if there were any locals on here who might fancy a Craggy Island (or other / better wall that I've not heard of round there) session one (or two) evenings that week. Currently thinking Mon and Weds.

I'm being put up in the Holiday Inn so wary of wasting a week not training, boozing too much and eating like Henry VIII / lagers to fill the time. Oh, and I climb Font 6c-ish, also happy to clip bolts if that's better / your ting.

Holla at me on PM yo.

Peace.

I think craggy is your best bet, unless you can get a lift to the sandstone.  In fact you could get there by train if you have enough time. The university wall is pretty old school.

Oh yeah, meant to mention - not taking the motor down as work's paying for my train. Did consider driving but 4 hours in each direction in the Micra would be a serious undertaking!

If you get a chance, the new Reading Climbing Centre is pretty darn good - more routes, more bouldering...you'd need a lift (30 min drive though)?

The university wall is pretty old school.

Not sure - a quick Google seems to suggest they've had a decent looking wall built last year.

Might go and check it as it's only 5 mins from the hotel...

The new Uni wall had/has potential, but it's pretty poorly managed.
Shit and infrequent resetting, job-lot of rapey holds.
I gave it a number of chances over the last year, each time hoping things had improved, but no dice.

Craggy Island shits all over it, as does Reading and Craggy2. Don't waste yer cash.
