Italians on the grit. please help.
January 21, 2011, 11:19:49 pm
so, there are some details still to be fixed, but I will be in UK the second and third week of February. of course I am seeking hospitality, but there will be two of us, since I will bring along a friend of mine, who'd like to give climbing a go. his name is Michele Caminati.
I have a very short ticklist, involving both some grit (Brad Pit, The Joker) and some lime (Rock Atrocity, Malc's One Armer).
Michele wants just grit, and from what he told me, he would like to do some trad testpieces.  :o
I will be up North for a couple of weeks, Michele will stay for longer, I think until the Climbing Works Comp.

so: we are looking for beds, couches, cellars and whichever place we could lay our pads on. probably Michele will also need some proper professional belaying if he gets on the routes. I am not going to belay him and I have already told him. I, in particular, will also need some good coffee.

obviously we are ready to pay: Michele will provide the adequate crushing, I will go to the supermarket and cook dinner.

to say I am excited is an understatement. I just can't wait to see the orange light of the sunset at Stanage, just as I can't wait to see again The Cave and all the familiar faces of the blog. I can't wait to be home again. I can't wait to be home again.
really, it's going to be epic.

As it happens, I am having some time off work from 5th to 20th of February and am keen to get out for some grit bouldering. I won't be able to provide beta for the stuff on your tick list, but I can provide extra pads and 92kg of spotting power.

Nibs I'd guess you're looking to base yourself in the honeypot of the Peak but if you fancy a venture to deepest darkest West Yorkshire (maybe Michele will want to try the Widdop and Gorple routes?) you are very welcome to stay in our spare room (a bit rough and ready but dry and with en-suite facilities).

I'm available Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays in the Peak, far from professional but I can offer a belay for Michele or spotting, pads and encouragement, maybe even some coffee.

THANK YOU ALL.

will let you know more as soon the wonderboy and I fix everything. I think he would be centered in Shef, while I want to also go to Liverpool to destroy Tom's new house and climb in The Cave, and maybe also other venues I still haven't visited.

GRAZIE.

Lore, I'm sorry I just read this now. Days are long, cold and lonely writing some stupid technical report I wish I could pay somebody to do....

I think you know how much I and the rest of the community are looking forward to having you here (and Michele if he wishes to become as Scouse as us). I need to Skype you up early next week when the pressure is off and we can ink some hardfire plans into the diary. Naturally, this is fucking amazing news. Bring tha ruckus boye!!!!!!!

Malc's One Armer

really, it's going to be epic.

Nibble, you are such a freak. In a good way :-* When you crush M.O.A. please get a video of you super-syked over it.

For coffee, Bragazzis in Sheffield, Abbeydale Road, 15 mins stroll from the Works.

If you join the crew in Northumberland, I'll come down!

more details.
the wonderboy and I will arrive around 7th-8th of February.
he confirmed that he is very keen on some hard grit action.  :o this will need sorting out top rope practice and belayers, but I'm sure it will work somehow.

we will have a car and pads.

levels of excitement beyond the imaginable.

he confirmed that he is very keen on some hard grit action.  :o this will need sorting out top rope practice a selection of hard, bold, but ultimately safe routes to flash and belayers, but I'm sure it will work somehow.

ahahahahah!
I can assure Michele has already names and locations well fixed in his mind. but I won't spoil the surprise.

now you can imagine my dilemma: do I go bouldering or do I go and watch Michele do hard grit routes?

did I tell you how excited I am?
did I?
I didn't, did I?
or did I?
eh?
eh?
eh?

If Michele is keen to try Meshuga i'd be keen to meet up.  Got on it before xmas and i'm keen to finish the job and will happily take on the mainly redundant role of belayer!

I'm keen, but limited to a very short session in between DIY and picking kids up

... might save my skin and get out Wednesday instead

... but tomorrow morning looks so nice

... maybe climb first then destroy the house and make the kids tidy up after me  :devangel:

let me know what you/they're doing and I'll try to justify warping my priorities

Nibs, keep us updated on where you're heading. I should be able to get out mid-week and can offer belay/mat-sherpa services.

DIY got off to an unexpectedly early start - road works outside at 8.20am, so I felt justified in starting with the hammer.

I'll be up there 11/12 ish - tearing up the 4s and 5s like tissue paper

Nibs - For once I have a flexible schedule. I'll see you at Stanage around 2pm.

I've got to be back in Sheff by 3, so might just see you there
