someday someone will pull down that block on Puddlejumper too, which is certainly as big as the block that fell off Castlebergh earlier this year!  :-\

Not since i trundled it last year.

Really? I did this route in May this year and it still seemed to be there then (marked with a big cross in chalk, no?).

I count it as a badge of honour that I received two punter points for dissing quarried Lancashire crap.

I was referring to some of the death traps on that website of Gibson's and not sport climbing in general btw.  I'm partial to a bit of that.

Will's has a poor taste in climbs unlike Wilton or Anglezarke. In fact Anglezarke has many quality routes like Golden Tower and King of Kings, which would get 3 stars in Yorkshire or the Peak. There is a difference between a crag that has not has much traffic and a hole in the ground (Masson Lees anyone)

Wilton 2 is mint.

Angelzarke is very good.

Horseshoe main wall is really good on it's own. The rest of the quarry should be bulldozed and landscaped.

Masson Lees seems fun on first acquaintance but it's a total gluefest.

Chudleigh, crudleigh more like. Not really what you go south of Brizzle for.

Castlebergh looks like the biggest pile of turd ever. A real farce it was ever bolted and publicised.

Craig Dorys is amazing.

Pennemamennan Head is actually pretty cool and has fun routes.

Good summary there Fiend.  Haven't been to Masson Lees (in fact I hadn't heard of it) or Castlebergh, but everything else you said is spot on.

Can't believe that Angelzarke got a dissing earlier, there's some truly ace routes there.

You don't know how wrong you are Fiend. However, i'll agree with you, as i like it quiet.

The X is on a bit of rock that you don't go near any more. The bit to the left was what came down.

Wilton 2. Don't even bloody bother. And Anglezarke isn't really worth the effort.

So what you're saying is 'I went and got :spank:, therefore the crag is a steaming pile of sh!te'.

Pigs on the Wing area has some of the best quarried routes around. The Golden Tower area would be chock full of climber every day if it was in the Peak/Yorks. Fact.

I went to Wilton 2 and did Cement Mix (I insisted on not wanting to do it but a friend had to try. He failed so I ended up finishing it. I got dragged over the grass cornice by a passer by. This was a long long time ago).

Anglezarke just didn't impress me at all. The routes that I did were piss poor. Can't remember them off the top of my head. One decent area does not a great crag make.

I just find it very hard to get psyched for quarried grit. Especially some of the particularly unappealing Lancs holes. When you think of Esk Buttress or Almscliff or Rylstone or Sron na Ciche they pale very quickly. Sorry if that offends anyone.

Bit late for apologies, all that - karma has piled up already.

I have no opinion, I never bothered with Lancs quarries.

I don't see a need to apologise for an opinion. -ve karma did indeed pile up. 4 out of 6 points from one person. Charmed.

Why did you apologise then if you feel no need to?

Actually I puntered you once for being ill informed and then the other times for being a dick.

The star ratings are to blame in many a Rockfax guide as they don't match the usual standard of, say, a BMC guide

Get a grip Will.

Everyone knows that the best crag is the one having the most fun.

By the sounds of it, Lancashire's quarries have had a lot of fun laughing at you.

LOL

On the other hand, although Will is objectively and factually WRONG, Dylan is often pretty trigger happy. [shrugging smiley]

Maybe people should post more shite crags, that will help it all get a bit

...Chudleigh, crudleigh more like.

I don`t know how you can hold those two views at the same time, unless you`ve never been past Sarcophagus at Chudleigh. White Life, Black Death, Mortality Crisis, The Spy, Machete Wall & The Spider, what`s not to like? Still at least most people go and try Chudleigh Overhang, Sarcophagus or Wogs and then leave vowing never to come back, like creamtime says, keeps it quiet  :)

Funnily enough, the nearest miss I had (and it was very close) a year or so ago was when a lump of rock about the size of a cricket bat fell from the said block on Puddlejumper.

Respect to the Ninja reactions Aaronator.

Basically i judge a crags quality on the stench of bull shit at the bottom. That puts everything East of Manchester right at the top.
