Climbing in your sleep?
October 23, 2009, 10:47:35 am
Ok so who has dreams of climbing? Not a daydream, I mean when sleeping at night. Are you an obsessed maniac and every dream you have is climbing related?

Are you an amazing climber in your dreams? Or do you have climbing nightmares?

I usually have climbing super powers in my dreams - last night I flashed a 7B+ problem in my trainers. I promptly threw my La Sportivas in the bin - Nikes are the future I thought. Then I woke up, bollocks... and did 50 pullups for being a twat.

I've woken my gf up crimping her rib and pulling down hard on her shoulder.

Also I often wake up with pumped forearms and hands.

I don't recall any climbing dreams. Though I imagine I was shit hot.

Revel in your time....

I have dremt in the past about doing ridiculous things on a campus board, like going from the bottom rung to the top and back down again, with no effort whatsoever.

I used to have a poster of AdK on Dream Street Rose above my bed and dreamt once that I soloed it, and the whole thing fell down underneath me once I was standing at the top.

Dunno about dreams, but I did teach myself to ski by thinking about it in bed for 4 weeks....

I wouldn't admit to that in public  ;D

Similarly I used to dream of doing hundreds of effortless one armers, almost like I was floating and just holding the bar for support.  Always used to wake up very peacefully, although obviously disappointed.

Sounds like a gift for any budding psychoanalysts out there. Do you think perhaps your subconscious is trying to tell you that this goal you seek doesn't matter, but you'll only be able to admit this once you've reached it?

Wibble. Either that or if I finally achieve what I think is my goal, upon reaching that goal, I will discover that it wasn't what I was trying to achieve after all.

Or as Matt Johnson eloquently phrased it

Have you ever wanted something so badly
that it possessed your body & your soul
through the night & through the day
until you finally get it!
And then you realise that it wasn't what you wanted after all

I dreamt I was campussing and that my left hand ripped whilst trying to pull down really hard.

I was immediately rather rudely awoken by mrs rodma who informed me in no uncertain terms that I had just intentionally slapped her on top of her head really violently.

To which i sleepily replied "no I didn't, what do you expect if you stand underneath me when I'm campussing"  ;D

I used to dream that I had almost weightlessly lead to the top of a hard route in Alien Rock, only to then discover that I hadn't actually tied on. I think that this dream may be related to one I used to have as a small child, where I was naked (save for my school socks) in the school shower block with Matthew Corbett  :-\

I've been told that I talk about climbing in my sleep before, but I've only ever remembered one climbing related dream. It involved getting brutally burned off at a wall by a hybrid of Ron Fawcett and Jerry Moffat. Says a lot that I'm even mediocre in my dreams!
