percy's thing is on the boulder below the Unconquerables wall - its got an E3 (fear and loathing?) and stuff on it. in the summer we had a brief go at percyis thing, the landing is a but perched (i.e. don't fall off the landing) but the moves seemed very doable.

theres a photo of it from a different angle on ukc but that site seems down for me.

dunno, i've seen things like V9/10 given, but as i say i only did a few moves as it was warm, but didn't seem mega desperate.

He thought it was V7 or summat!

It is indeed Iain's Brass Monkeys, he gave it a height dependant grade of V9 originally.

While we're all getting excited about the plantation, I'll clear up a few '?'s on the problem database.

First up, deliverance left-hand (i.e. the wall with none of the holds, left foot in top of crack) was first done by Andy Brown. I should never have tried it in front of him  the lanky get. Unrepeated as far as I know. Grades not really relevant, but harder than the original - V8-10?

Not too suprised to hear Ian did Brass Monkeys before Percy. Good name too. However methinks there are 'rules' 'bout which block you use for feet. Could explain different grades. But who was responsible for the criminal brushings on the back of the block?

Pressure Drop is worth Font 7c+, Shirleys is a grade easier at 7c

Not listed in your list is Char's arete / aka Help the young. The best 7b at the crag?? Claimed around the same time (98ish) by Richard Williams and Paul Mitchell. Climbs the hanging arete right of Billiard buttress- on crag up right behind Joker block.
Normal start is to jump to crimp on gully wall.
Standing start is possible - hugging up arete, quite sustained 7b+.

Brass Monkey is a very fine problem, although easier for the tall - hence the Hurley thinking it was a V7! Dunno where the name Percy's problem came from, but it was nothing to do with me! Nice problem though....we were trying it on Sunday. Nice and beefy, and V9/10 according to the Darwen Weasel.
Help the Young is a Paul Mitchell route (in the definative guide at some stupid trad grade), but a nice thing at about 7a+!

Char has a good claim to having done it first - definitely around the same time at least. I've always known it  as Char's arete.

I very much doubt that seeing as i saw it chalked at least 10 years ago when bouldering with Nigel Prestige around that area. Iwould think that the boulderers of the 80's all of whom were capable  would of passed this by

i take it the "standup" is **H-Top? i.e. danny's minus 2 moves.
