Festivals 09
May 10, 2009, 12:22:50 am
Curious to know what yall have signed up for for summer 09. Anything of particular interest in the electronic domain? Any underrated events worth having a sniff at? Thinking of trying Field Day in London this year after a glowing review from last year.

I'd love to go to Sonar but it's a month too early for my holiday.

Field Day looks great.

As does Bestival

It'd be interesting to find out about smaller, more intimate electronic gatherings. Smaller is usually better.

Get youself to the Wickerman Featival, it's top draw. The main dance tent is ran by a mate of mine, think Utah Saints are on this year. It's a great festival, they even have hot showers! I really enjoyed it when I went, it was a couple of years ago but not much has changed. Check out a DJ called James Ryan if you go.

Don't know anyone that's been but Love Family Park in Germany looks immense.

Sonar does indeed look hot to trot.

Sonar is awesome and if you can get a group together it's not that expensive to hire out a fairly swanky apartment either, top tunes and a bit of luxury for the morning after.  Well worth a trip.

I'm going to the Green Man for the third year in a row - got the tickets already. Line up's looking great. Don't know about electronica Bubba but its not as folky dolky as might be imagined. Four Tet and Future Sounds of London are on the the bill this year and there is a DJ tent. Personally, I'm made up to get a chance to see Wilco. Great, very relaxed festival and very convenient for those of us with Hereford connections.

Went to Field Day last year. Pretty small and fairly packed out. It rained, there weren't many toilets and the sound in the main tent wasn't brilliant... but all was forgotten when Mr Hawtin came on  ;)  Worth checking out, but it finishes early so you need a post-festival plan.

Going to Sonar in June - this time without my girlfriend in a wheelchair hopefully!   :dance1:

I'll be at Wakestock enjoying the unique mix of cheshire yachtie totty, locals and madhead Bangor ravers. Plus I get to sleep at the in-laws chalet on The Warren with an en-suite bathroom

Interesting, I was just reading up on it as a possible start to a South Wales camping trip. Would you recommend it for a first festy for an 20 month old raver? Is it quite small/family friendly?

I think you misunderstand the meaning of "sleeper cell". It's not a place where lazy buggers go for a nap.
