Bareback Rider

Right, this is next on my hitlist and i need a bit of info on the line. I know it starts on the right side of the arete but does it, a) mantel up onto the slab and charge for the top, or b) change sides and finish the top section on the left. cheers

I thought the whole thing was on its right, but i have seen pics of the top section being climbed on its left, which i think looks better. I have been to the top of the arete on its left but was stopped dead by the move for the top, is this the local knowledge Mini?

I'm fairly sure that it starts on the left hand side until you get to a position whereby you can come around onto the upper slab, or at least that's how I remember Sharratt doing it.

OK so you think start on the left then go right onto slab, now I'm confused. I will have to try do it all ways just to make sure, cheers

I think it goes up on the left and at the top you can either traverse the lip left and rockover at the end or rockover early and do a scary walk up the slab.

 think bonjoy is right

pretty sure that this is how somebody's fool quaked his way up, much to the terror of his unwitting spectators (and himself no doubt)

What Bonjoy said, definitely. Like he said, its walking but scary if you rock over as soon as you get the lip. I always did it that way because I hate hand-traversing, which is what the other finish involves.

nice one folks, i think the best line is up the left and traverse the lip to the end, i think this is the one i will go for, cheers

I've done it several times, always on the left then rocking up onto the arete. The walk isn't that scary but the rockover is. Have also done the hand-traverse option, there isn't a logical move up so I ended up bridging up the corner which is often damp and vegetated, vastly inferior imho.
