Shoulder issues and numb fingers?
January 21, 2013, 09:35:25 pm
Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed an aching sensation in my right shoulder, sometimes running down into my arm,and numb fingers on my right hand. The numbness in the hand is noticeably worse in the thumb and forefinger.I've had less severe numbness in my left hand before, and was told it was due to a shoulder allignment. There was no ache in the left shoulder, however, and the numb finger issue was alleviated by some stretches and push ups over about 2-3 weeks.I'm aware that I'm pretty lax re working opposing muscle groups,so I've probably only got myself to blame.Anyone have any ideas what this problem may be,or have any suggestions exercise-wise? Or is it physio time? All advice very greatfully recieved.

Sounds like a nerve.  Where is anyone's guess: neck, shoulder, upper arm?  Since it might be a nerve and something similar has happened before I suggest doctor or physio.

I'd suggest physio.
Some years ago a friend was getting  numb fingers after climbing.
I pushed him into going to a physio & 3 days later he was in surgery.
Apparently a bony spur had formed in the shoulder & was compressing a vein/artery (sorry details are a bit hazy now)
when his arms were elevated,
The result was blood clots forming, travelling down his arms & blocking blood supply to the fingers.

Can't imagine it's the same thing but go see a physio anyway.

Ha! Makes a change eh! Get to Physio. Probes knows a good Physio, think she is hot too. But maybe it would be worth travelling to find a sports Physio with an interest in climbing? The dude in Sheffield for example, or even the woman who does Physio at hangar.
I am bored man, when's the next installment of your blog gonna show its face and brighten my dreary Basingstoke week x
