finger pulley massage
February 12, 2010, 11:17:13 am
I've done a load of research on pulley injuries. Massage seems popular, but has anyone had any experience of causing further damage due to over-doing it? In summary, it f'king hurts, but perhaps no more so than if I massage an uninjured finger... (BTW it's only a partial tear and I've got pain-free movement).
The last thing I want to do is cause further damage - I had a pulley injury years ago, and it took well over a year to get back to normal :boohoo:

Now to share some information: I've been trying the Mr MacLeod icy water method with no success up til now. Been getting it either too cold :o or not cold enough. 5 degrees seems to be the magic temperature for me, but I appreciate it must vary between people (probably based on residential latitude).

All my injuries I usually make worse by overdoing stretching/massage, but the finger pulley was an exception. Massage along the finger. I too tried the ice water, was best when a few ice cubes floating in water. I found it easiest to put bucket in freezer and wait until ice just forming on surface. Good luck Peter

Try rubbing only across the finger in the direction the pulley runs. I usually find this feels like it irritates it less. Usually feels better to me.

Been getting it either too cold :o or not cold enough.

Had the same problem and solved it by lying in a hot bath at the same time.
